Luke spent the next few hours pacing around his room.

He didn't know exactly what he did or said but he knew he fucked up.

He knew he fucked up a lot of times, but they were never major. Now this, was a major fuck up. The fuck up of all fuck ups.

He worried about where she was, and what she was doing, and what if she got hurt? Or what if she got kidnapped?

But deep down he knew she was okay. And he knew she was nearly an adult, so it's not like she wasn't capable of handling things on her own. Maybe she just needed time on her own.

And at the same time he was worried sick.

He called her phone several times, but there was no answer. And he didn't want to tell her parents because they were mainly the reason she left. But even if he wanted to, he had no way of contacting them. He'd never even met them, so he had no idea what they were like.

His heart was pounding like a sledgehammer against his chest, and he felt like he was going to go into cardiac arrest soon if she didn't answer her phone.

He began typing a text message to her when Ashton rang. He groaned as he answered the call.

"Ashton, now is not the time for your antics, I'm in a pickle at the moment." He spat into the phone, his brows furrowed. "I just called to-"

"No, I don't want to hear about the amazing sex you had last night, I really need to go." He hurried, breathing heavily. "No, Luke, fucking listen for once!" Ashton yelled, causing Luke's left ear to hurt.

"What, Ashton?" He moaned. "What is so important?"

"Arabella is here," Ashton spoke, Luke's jaw clenched as he heard this. "Where exactly is here?"

"She's at my place," Ashton breathed, "But fuck, she's wasted." He continued.

"She's mumbling all this shit, I can't even understand, and-" Ashton mumbled, cut off by profanities.

"What? What happened?" Luke shouted.

"She either blacked out or she's just tired," He replied, shuffling noises could be heard through the phone.

"And why wouldn't you want to hear about my obviously amazing sex life? It's porn to your ears." Ashton scoffed.

"Fuck, I'm on my way," Luke muttered. "Just- just keep her safe." He said, before hanging up, totally ignoring Ashton's.

Luke rushed out the door and to Ashton's. He worriedly bit his lip, but boy, was he glad Ashton actually called him of all people. And he was also glad that Arabella had went to Ashton, instead of somewhere else where she could have gotten hurt.

He pulled up Ashton's driveway and parked. He jumped out of the car, and ran straight into his house.

He ran down the stairs and into the basement, which was Ashton's room.

As he reached the last step, he looked towards Ashton, who was sitting on his bed. Next to him was Arabella, and a pang of guilt rushed over Luke.

He felt like this was his fault, because he basically indirectly told her to run away, but that wasn't what he meant to do.

In fact, it was the total opposite of what he meant to do.

He tried to tell her to stop running away from her problems and start facing her fears.

He was trying to help her, but she wouldn't listen.

So this was his punishment.

She looked ten times shittier than she did after that night at the party.

"What happened to her?" He mumbled as he approached her quietly. "I don't know. Like I said, Luke, she came here wasted." Ashton answered, shrugging.

"I didn't know what to do so I called you."

He got up from Ashton's bed, tugging the curly haired boy along with him, up the stairs.

"Fuck, Ashton," He muttered, his hands running through his hair. "What am I going to do with her?"

"What are you talking about?" Ashton questioned, his brows furrowed in confusion.

"Her parents," Luke replied. "I don't think she wants to go back."

"But she can't keep running," He said, chewing his lip between his teeth.

"Wait, what happened between her and her parents?" Ashton asked. "She didn't do anything. It's them, and she can't take it anymore, at least that's what she told me." Luke shrugged. "You know?"

He couldn't help but wonder if there was more to the story than just her parents' constant bickering.

He couldn't help but wonder if she was the cause of it, or something worse. It worried him, actually. But he couldn't let her live at his house. He couldn't let her move in. It wasn't like Liz could adopt her, or something. She already had her hands full as a single parent. And at the same time it'd be pretty weird dating your sister, even if she's adopted. But as if that would ever happen.

"Just let her decide on her own." Ashton shrugged. "You can't force her to go back, and also you can't let her, like, live with you, cause that'd be weird. And also her parents would probably be even angrier, and they'd fight more, if that's what they do all the time."

Luke nodded in agreement towards Ashton's wise words.

"I should probably take her home. To mine, at least." Luke said, before standing up and making his way back down the stairs.

He eyed the sandy blonde, who was passed out on Ashton's bed. She looked so peaceful to him, and he didn't want to wake her.

"Bells, let's go, come on," Luke sighed, his voice soft, and his eyes full of pity.

He tugged her wrist, trying to wake her up.

He sighed in defeat, and wrapped his arms around her body, lifting her up bridal style.

He struggled up the stairs as Ashton watched him. She wasn't heavy, but Luke was never a built guy, so of course he would have struggled. He couldn't even kick a soccer ball properly, or lift boxes of Christmas ornaments for his mom, let alone carry a hundred pound girl.

After what felt like miles, he reached his car and loaded her into the backseat.

He closed the door and climbed into the driver's seat, buckling his seatbelt and putting the key into ignition.

"Ashton," He spoke, before pulling out of the driveway. "Yeah?" Ashton replied, leaning onto the side of the car.

"Thanks for taking care of her."

Ashton nodded as Luke began to pull out onto the street.
