"So she called me Lucifer again, and then I was like 'Why do you always call me Lucifer?' and then she was like 'Because it's funny and cute.'" Luke babbled, his eyes glowing with excitement.

"And then I was like 'So I'm cute?' and then she said 'I didn't say that' and then I said 'But you implied it'," He continued, trying to catch his breath in between words.

The boys were hanging out at Ashton's, because Luke's mom had invited guests over, which meant that they couldn't have band practice at his house.

"Shut up, Luke." Michael yelled, a water bottle flying across the room in Luke's direction. "Yeah, Luke, we thought you didn't care about her." Calum added.

"What are you talking about?" Luke gawked. "For someone who doesn't care, you sure sound like you do a whole lot." Ashton chimed in, his mouth filled with crackers.

"You know, guys," Luke grumbled, his eyebrows furrowing. "I came here to have a good time, and I'm honestly feeling so attacked right now." He continued.

"No, you came here for band practice, you idiot." Michael barked.

"Whatever," Luke said, waving Michael away. "I do care about her. She's my friend,"

"No, we're your friends." The three chorused.

"Why are you guys being so selfish?" Luke scowled at the trio. "You act like I can't make any other friends besides you."

"Because you can't," Calum said. "Yeah, he's right." Michael added.

"Well, you're wrong. She is my friend. And you're probably just mad about it because you can't get in her pants, and I'm probably closer than you'll ever get."

"Luke, she doesn't even like dick." Calum spat, his eyes squinting. Luke shrugged at the comment.

He never mustered up the courage to ask her about it. He didn't want to believe all the rumors, only because he was her friend and if they weren't true, then he'd feel really bad for believing others without asking her first. But part of him forced himself to do so, because he didn't want to get his hopes up.

"What are you implying?" Luke asked dumbfoundedly.

"She's gay, you dumbass!" Michael groaned loudly.

"You don't know that." Luke challenged.

"But you don't know she's not." Calum sighed, popping a chip into his mouth.

"Touché."

Luke spent the rest of the night at home, in his pj's listening to Blink-182.

He was half asleep when his phone woke him, alerting him that he'd received a text.

He rolled off his bed and picked up the sweatpants he threw on the floor earlier, shoving his legs into them as he walked down the stairs.

He ran to the door, unlocking it and swinging it open.

"What the hell are you doing here?" He said, a quizzical look on his face. "Wow, thanks for the warm welcome. I really needed it." She said as she stood there, rubbing her hands for warmth.
