"So I got invited to Jenna Mason's party on Friday. You should consider coming with me." Arabella spoke, as Luke dried himself off with a towel.

Luke thought for several minutes before replying.

"I'm not even invited." He replied, throwing the towel into his laundry basket. Arabella shrugged.

"I'm inviting you. You're my plus one. And aren't your friends invited as well?" She asked, chewing on a string of licorice. He nodded, rummaging his drawers for clean clothes.

"So then you should come too."

He disappeared into his bathroom without saying a word.

He desperately wanted to say yes, just so he could go to a party. It's not like Jenna would care at all, since she doesn't even pay attention to him at school. So it wouldn't even matter if he was there or not, because she wouldn't notice anyways.

"Well, you should reconsider my offer if you're thinking of rejecting it." Arabella shouted through the door.

Just as she finished saying this, he swung the door open, causing Arabella to lose her balance, falling against his chest.

"Shit, sorry." He said, as he caught her.

She pulled away quickly, going back to sit where she sat before.

The rest of the night was filled with awkward tension.

Ultimately, Luke decided to accept Arabella's offer.

So there he sat on Friday night at 6pm, waiting once again for Arabella to show up.

He wasn't sure if he should dress in casual attire or semi casual, since he'd never been to many parties in his life.

After he checked the time on his phone about 32 times-he counted-Arabella pulled up in his driveway, her headlights blinding.

She stepped out of the car, dressed in denim ripped jeans, a black tank top with a black cardigan to match, and nude pumps.

He examined her up and down as she strolled towards him.

"I like your Cobain shirt." She smiled, before extending her hand for him to take.

"Thanks," He shrugged, her hand in his, as he stood up.

They climbed into her car, buckling their seat belts.

It smelled like mint, and her A/C was set to 60 degrees, Luke's eyes brimming with tears from the strong air blowing towards his face. He reached to the knob, shutting it off.

"Sorry, I love the cold." She smiled whole-heartedly as she backed out of his driveway.

"Wow, I'm suprised you didn't mention the fact that I was 45 minutes late. Again." She laughed.

"I'll spare you." He replied, surfing through the radio stations.

"No, just use my phone." She said, tossing her phone onto his lap.

He fumbled with the phone, unlocking it and scrolling through her playlists before picking a song.

"Nice choice." She said over the music that filled the car.

"They're just girls, breaking hearts," He sang, dancing in the passenger seat. "Eyes bright, uptight, just girls!" Arabella finished, laughing.

"Hey, eyes on the road," He shouted, Arabella swerving into another lane. "They are!" She replied, nudging him, one hand on the wheel.
