*My POV*

Starting college and going back to work had been so stressful. I'd been running around non stop all week. It was finally Friday and I was heading home from work. It was about 5:15 when I pulled up. I turned off the car and stepped out. My mom's car wasn't in the driveway. She is usually home by now. Weird. I walked in the front door, threw my purse down and headed up to my room. There was a really nice smell in the air. My mom must have cleaned earlier. As I reached the top of the stairs I realized the smell was coming from my room. I opened the door and I couldn't believe my eyes.
"Calum? What are you doing here?" I yelled as I ran into his arms.
"Surprising my princess." He giggled kissing the top of my head. I looked around the room at the candles and shopping bags.
"What's all this babe?" I asked never letting go of him.
"Well, I've been in Jersey since this morning and your mom told me when you'd be home, so I went shopping. I hope you like it. We have a date tonight." He said with a huge smile on his face.
"Oh yeah? Where are we going?" I asked turning around to check out the outfit he bought me. I pulled a beautiful maxi dress out of one bag. Shoes that matched from another. Jewelry from another. Make up from another. And from the last bag I pulled out a matching bra and panties set. "You didn't have to do this Cal. How much did you spend?" I asked concerned.
"Don't worry about that baby. Get dressed. We leave in an hour. Our reservation is at 7:30." He said stepping out of the room.
"Where do you think you're going, Hood?" I said grabbing the back of his shirt and pulling him back into the room.
"Fine, I'll stay. You don't have to tell me twice. The longer I get to look at you the happier I am. But i have to change my shirt too." He said pulling off the ripped up muscle shirt and grabbing a black button up from his bag. I turned around quickly. I had no time to waste. We were leaving in an hour. Cal was laying on my bed watching me get dressed and then he followed me to the bathroom to watch me do my make up. I finished just in time.
"I'm driving." He said running down the stairs and grabbing my keys. I followed him and grabbed my purse running out the door behind him.

*******

The drive was long and I knew exactly where we were going. He was taking me to my favorite place. The Melting Pot. We went in and had dinner. We talked about the last few concerts I missed and my college life. After dinner, we drove home. We sang the whole way just like the trip to the airport when he left. This time was happier than that time though. I had my baby back.

When we got back to my house, we walked into another one of my parent's arguments. I hated when they did this. Cal and I just ran right up to my room.
"Are you alright, princess?" He asked pushing some hair out of my face as we both sat on my bed.
"Yeah. I'm okay. I just wish this would all end. I wish it wasn't like this. You know?" I said and he pulled me into his arms. This wasn't the first time Cal has witnessed them fighting. They do it all the time. He had seen them on facetime and whenever he visits.
"Baby?" He said after a minute of silence.
"Mmm?" I hummed into his shoulder.
"I want to play you something I wrote. Its on the new album coming out in October. You'll be the first to hear it. I wrote it for you." He explained.
"I'd love to hear it baby." I said with a small smile.
"Okay. It's kinda sad though. Is that alright?" He said grabbing his guitar.
"Yeah baby. That's fine. What's it called?" I asked.
"Broken Home." He said beginning to strum his guitar. He started to sing. "They would yell, they would scream. They were fighting it out. She would hope, she would pray, she was waiting out. Holding on to a dream while she watched these walls fall down. Sharp words like knives, they were cutting her down. Shattered glass like the past its a memory now. Holding on to a dream while she watches these walls fall down." He sang and I could feel the tears falling.
"He mom, hey dad, when did this end? When did you lose your happiness? I'm here alone inside of this broken home. Who's right, who's wrong? Who really cares? The fault, the blame, the pain's still there. I'm here alone inside of this broken home, this broken home." He stopped singing as I began to cry harder. He set his guitar on the floor and pulled me into his chest.
"I'm so sorry, princess." He whispered into my hair.
"Don't be. It was beautiful. I love it." I said between sobs.
"Really baby? I just was thinking about it one day after I heard them yelling over the phone, and it kinda just happened." He said.
"It's amazing baby. Thank you for writing it for me." I said kissing his lips. He pulled away after kissing me back and wiped the tears off of my cheeks.
"I love you, princess. And just so you know, you aren't alone. I'm here for you every step of the way. Now let's get some sleep, okay?" He said unbuttoning his shirt. I went to the bathroom and took off my makeup and came back into my room. Cal handed me the muscle shirt he'd been wearing earlier and I changed into it. I loved sleeping in his clothes. We settled under the blanket and Cal turned out the light.
"Sleep tight, princess. I love you." He said pulling me close to him.
"I love you too, Calbaby. Good night." I said kissing his chest. I'm the luckiest girl in the world I swear.
