When He Makes You Cry

Light Yagami

"Misa's just a pawn, I swear!" Light said for the thousandth time. You grit your teeth, sick of hearing excuses.

"You wouldn't be so hard to believe if you weren't constantly living a lie! Maybe L is right. Maybe Kira is just some childish villain that doesn't like to lose. If that's the case, you should surrender and take your consequences! And your stupid Misa Amane with you!" You yelled back.

Light, without thinking, grabbed your hand and pinned it behind your back. "You're going to leave me? After all we've been through? You'll betray Kira?"

You felt tears in your eyes and glanced back at him. "I wouldn't dare to do that to you. But if Kira's in the picture, then I might not stick to that. Kira has Misa. And you aren't Kira, Light. Kira is just inside of you. Now, let go, Light."

He seemed to snap back to reality as he released your hand and looked at you apologetically. At that point, tears had escaped your eyes and you were bawling. He pulled you to him and you buried your head in his chest. "I'm sorry," he muttered, "Listen, I'm sorry, okay?"

You didn't say a word, but silently accepted his apology.

L Lawliet

"Ne, Lawliet," you whined, "You're working again?"

You were sitting in the hotel room with Lawliet, bored out of your goddamn mind. He had promised you a date weeks ago. And he had chosen his job over you. Again.

"Yes, {Y/N}, I have to catch Kira." L responded, not looking up from his laptop's screen.

"But you need to take a break once in a while. Someone promised me a date!"

"Yes, and I'm sorry, but I'm working, love. Maybe next weekend?"

"You said that three weeks ago. Listen, I know you're busy, but you can at least take an hour or two to go out for lunch or something?"

"You wanted lunch? Why don't you just ask Watari to bring it for us?" L asked absentmindedly, and you felt a small pang of anger.

"Because I wanted to go out with my boyfriend on a date. Like a normal couple. But it seems that, once again, he takes priority over his job than me."

"{Y/N}, you know that's not-"

"What? Not true?" You snapped, "It is true! Yes, I get it, you're the World's Number One Detective. You're busy. A lot. But if you can't take even a freaking hour to at least go out, how can you expect this to work?!"

Tears streamed down your face as L finally looked up at you. He sighed and got up, bringing your head to his chest and rubbing your back. "I'm sorry. I get it. Give me 10 minutes, and then we'll go out. Anywhere you want. And don't ever think that my job is more important than you. It's just... There are millions of lives in my hands. I have to stay on top of everything."

You nodded and hugged him as tight as you could.

"Ugh, why are you so reckless?" You asked, wiping blood from the corner of your mouth and then taking off the jacket you were wearing to inspect your other wounds.
