Love In A Lift

They stood together talking aimlessly about what they would be having for dinner that night. She wanted Chinese, he wanted Indian. He knew arguing with her was pointless, she always won. They were discussing why their food choice was better when the lift the stood in suddenly jolted.

She pressed the alarm button and sat in the floor. "It happens all the time Weasel, usually starts up in a few minutes," she rolled her eyes.

He was over at her for dinner. He never came over much, in fact he never saw her much. One of them was always busy, these day their relationship was near non-existent. On the odd occasion the actually spent time together though it was the same as it always was.

He slid slowly down the wall to sit on the floor. She looked at him and rolled her eyes. She was expecting the lift to start again then she'd have a hard job getting him up.

"What is your problem?" he asked referring to the eye roll.

"Nothing," she muttered. She wasn't going to start a fight but he didn't buy it.

"No tell me, I want to know what I always seem to be doing wrong these days. All you ever do is roll your eyes at me and hot as it is, I don't appreciate it," he huffed.

"It's not one thing you always do, I don't know and I hate it," she whined. She tapped the lift button again but no joy. "Like now, we're stuck in a lift and you're sitting on the floor like nothing's happening. I know it does it all the time but there's always a part of me that gets scared," she whispered the last part.

"Never thought I'd hear the Patricia Williamson admitting to being scared," he scoffed. She shoved his shoulder slightly and sat down opposite him. "It still feels weird not seeing you everyday, I was so used to waking up and getting three insults before midday," he laughed.

She didn't laugh, instead she thought about what he said. It had been two years since they left Anubis meaning they'd been together for three and a half years now. They hadn't changed at all but they both still didn't feel right about the lack of contact. They both had keys to each others apartments but they only ever seemed to be used on the rare occasion one of them was sick and needed nursing.

She had been thinking of suggesting living together for a few months now. It wasn't as if they hadn't lived together before but now they would have the added bonus of privacy. That also scared her. They had never done much on the physical side before and living together and sleeping in the same bed every night surely meant something was bound to happen. In a way she wanted it to but she was scared he would leave her. He had said that he couldn't live without her but that didn't mean his mind couldn't change.

He knew even especially after this long together she thought he would leave her soon. He knew how she felt about commitment. She thought that love never lasted or if two people tried to believe it still existed between them it drove them into depression. He knew this was what her parents taught her to believe. He didn't believe this. Maybe live didn't work out between his biological parents but his mum and step-dad were very much still in love even after being married for thirteen years. He wanted something like this for him and Patricia. They hadn't even discussed them ever getting married because he knew how much it would frighten her. He knew however that she did truly love him and that was enough.

"Am I still annoying you?" Eddie muttered cockily.

"You're breathing pretty loudly," she teased.

"Now how can you stop the noise of my breathing in a way which benefits us both," he teased. She glanced up at him and he smirked before outstretching his arms where she crawled into.

"You're breathing quieter but your hearts racing," she teased. He looked down at her. She always did this to him. It was quite embarrassing that she now actually felt his heart racing. He placed his hand against her chest where her heard would be. He tutted.

"Seems we need to bring yours up to speed," he breathed onto her neck. He felt her heart again. "A little better," he bit her earlobe and traced his hand along her leg before stopping at her hip and rubbing circles on her side slowly. "Much better," he smirked at the realisation of what he did.

"Are you going to finish what you started," she teased again.

"In a lift really? What if it starts working again," he countered her proposal.

"All the more fun," she whispered in a husky voice. She really wanted him to kiss her hard. She wanted him to make her feel like nobody else ever could. He knew what she wanted. Or at least he thought he did.

"Maybe another time," he kissed her neck and stood up. "You said yourself, the lift usually starts soon," he smirked. She raised an eyebrow. He held out a hand to help her up and for once she actually took it.

Later that night as they lay cuddling in her bed with Chinese food and Harry Potter on her tv she felt that urge and sudden boom on confidence.

"So do you like my place then?" she shrugged. This was it. No turning back now. She had started the conversation and this was one she would finish.

"It's actually pretty nice. Better than mine anyways," he snuggled closer.

"So you wouldn't mind living here then?" she perked up and this caught his attention. She knew it was sudden and pretty unexpected but so was everything about their relationship.

"I would love to," he smiled and tried to snuggled further into her neck. "I love you Yacker," he whispered.

"I love you too Weasel," she smiled. "So you up for moving in then?" she asked wearily as she didn't exactly know if it was confirmed.

"If it means I can do this every night definitely," he smiled. He loved cuddling with her. It was after the whole thing with Sophia and the fact everyone thought he died when she was totally all for PDA and hugs and cuddling. He wasn't complaining. He nearly died and he realised just how quickly something like that could happen so now they took every chance they could to touch each other in some way.

He was happy she had been the one to suggest it. He knew about all her worried and didn't want to freak her out.

She was happy that she had finally plucked up the courage and asked him.

They were both happy in the knowledge that their new lives together would soon begin.
