Eddie watched as Lucy and Caitlyn ran up and grabbed her legs. He couldn't believe it. For the bad-girl, all children adored her.
He had come to stay at her house for Easter break and they had taken a few of her neighbours round to the local park.
"Trixie," Lucy squeaked, "can you fix my hair?" She was definitely the cutest four year old ever. Long blonde hair and big blue eyes that made your heart melt.
"C'mon bubs," Patricia lifted her into her knees as she fixed her pleat's.
"Trixie, come push me on the swing," Caitlyn called across the park. Patricia ran over to her her with Lucy clinging onto her fingers. Eddie watched in amazement. She was like a totally different person around these young children. It was as if she was their mother.
"Who are you?" a small ginger boy named Joshua asked as he approached Eddie.
"I'm Eddie. I'm Patricia's friend," he smiled.
"Can you come play football with me?" he pouted. Eddie smiled and nodded. "How old are you?" Joshua asked as he took Eddie's hand, much to American boys surprise, and they walked across to a large grassy area.
"I'm seventeen," he smiled at the cute little boy.
"Woahhh. I'm only five," the boy replied in amazement. "Are you Trixie's boyfriend," the child asked.
"Yep," he beamed proudly as he watched his girlfriend with the children.
"Are you gonna marry her?" he continued to prod questions at Eddie.
"I've never really thought about it," he shrugged earning a disapproving look from the ginger boy. "When I think about it I definitely want to marry her one day and I hope she wants to marry me too," he sighed happily.
"She does, I asked her earlier," the boy screamed as he ran across the field to kick the ball to Eddie.
Later that night they were both curled up on her bed watching some horror movie that neither of them found too scary.
"You never told me you were so good with children," he muttered against her neck before kissing it. She raised an eyebrow as she turned to look at her boyfriend.
"And where are you heading this this," she prodded his chest as she attempted to appear threatening. He just laughed and spun her round to kiss her knuckles then her neck.
"You just didn't strike me as the child-loving type- you're always acting so tough then I come here and you're letting them crawl all over you, it's adorable," he laughed.
"Joshua seemed to quite like you," she complimented him. He smiled. He was proud of himself. Him and Joshua had got along great that day.
"Kids are just amazing," he smiled even more.
"You'd make a great dad," she muttered so it would be in audible to anyone but him.
"Eh, what was that?" he teased.
"Really weasel? You doing this?" she pouted.
"I'm really sorry but I didn't hear it," he teased.
"I said that you would make a great dad," she said embarrassed.
"You'd be the best mum a kid could ever want," he smiled and kissed the top of her head as her face was currently hidden in his chest in embarrassment.
"No I wouldn't, if be rubbish. I near enough never had parents when I was growing up, I was always with a nanny then straight to boarding school when I was eleven. I would be the worst mother ever," she cried.
"Hey Yacker we all know that's not true. When you were out there today, it's like you become someone else. It's beautiful. The kids all love you and we know that you love them to. Just know that when I have kids, they're definitely going to be yours," he whispered the last part. He knew how she felt about stuff like that and it was a bit forward of him but she had to know.
She was shocked he would say something like that. At the same time she was also relieved. She wrapped her arms tighter around him. She was unsure of what to say. She too wanted to grow old with him and just spend forever with him but she always found stuff like that so hard to say. A part of her was scared but she had learned to push that to the bottom with all the irrelevant stuff- what was life without a little fear.
"I love you so much Eddie," she kissed his cheek.
"I love you too," he smiled.
---
"What are you calling them?" Patricia's mother asked as she held her newborn grandchildren. Eddie and Patricia looked at each other then down at their children. A small girl with her fathers blonde hair and blue eyes and a small boy with ginger looking hair and green eyes.
"Lucy and Joshua," they replied in unison. Visiting hours were immediately done and the newborns were taken to the nursery. Eddie however was allowed an extra hour as he was the father.
"I told you they'd be yours," he kissed her cheek as they lay down next to each other on her hospital bed.
"And I still love you so much," she whispered to him.
"And I still love you too," he smiled and kissed her lips before they drifted off in each others arms.
