The next morning, Ivan was surprised to feel weight applied to his stomach and chest. He opened his eyes only to meet the blond of Matthew's hair. At some point in the night, the boy had curled himself up on top of him, but Ivan didn't care. The kid was cuddly, and that was perfectly fine. Their position made him wonder. Was this what it was like to have a kid? A little brat curled up on your chest and crawling into your bed? He didn't mind that. It was actually cute, and Ivan had always wanted a kid, so Matthew was a good way to temporarily fill that gap in his life.

"Matthew, wake up."

Matthew groaned and buried his face into Ivan's chest, not really feeling up to waking. The elder man sighed and jerked around, making the blond squeal and roll off of him. "How dare you, I like sleep!"

"Well, I have work today and I can't afford to be late."

"...Can I go with you?"

"I don't trust you to be here by yourself, so of course. I'll have to find some clothes for you. You aren't wearing what you wore yesterday. That's dirty."

"But I do not have any other clothes to wear.."

Ivan pulled himself from the bed, ignoring Matthew's comment and making his way to his closet, searching through it curiously. "Well, depends on what you like to wear. Do you like tees, long sleeves, hoodies, baggy pants, skinny jeans, what?"

"Um... I like hoodies.."

With that, Ivan threw him a red hoodie that would no doubt be too big, but it would work for now until they could go shopping for clothes. "I have some jeans here too. As long as you don't mind wearing my sister's pants. She has longer legs than you, but about the same waist size. You'll have to roll up the bottoms."

Matthew nodded and held his arms out for the jeans, and once they were handed to him, he quickly pushed Ivan out of the room, not caring that he'd already been seen naked, he hated for others to see him in such a way. The only reason it was acceptable the night before was because he was close to freezing to death. He could have died! ....Again.

After staring at himself in the mirror for quite some time, Matthew dressed himself and exited the bedroom. The jeans were rolled up at the bottom and clung to his skin like it was the only thing holding them together while the hoodie was loose on his small frame.

"There we go, that'll do for now. You can keep that hoodie. I don't ever wear it. Now out the door you go, I'm going to be late." Ivan had already dressed himself, most likely in the bathroom, and was waiting for Matthew to hurry the hell up. "We have to walk, my car broke down, but whatever. Walking gets us there."

Matthew nodded, taking Ivan's hand. "I'm not walking without holding onto you. I'm a kid, I could get run over."

"You act like a child, are you sure you're actually twenty-two?"

"Quite sure, but since I'm stuck in the body I died in, I act like a child, you will get used to it, trust me." Ivan groaned and squeezed the other's hand softly before dragging him from the house and into the snow, locking the door behind them.

"So where do you work Ivan? What is your major? Do you like your job?" Matthew was quite curious about the man that he was to be guarding, but could you blame him? It was his job, and why not get to know the man you'd be with for days, weeks, possibly months?

"I'm a mechanic. My job is decent, I don't like it and I don't hate it. It pays, so I work." Ivan shrugged.

"Can I watch you work? Are you good at your job? What if people recognize me? What will I do then?"

"You ask a lot of questions. If anyone even thinks they know you, it'll be an easy fix. We just say that no, you aren't who they are thinking of."

"As if that will work."

"Oh, be quiet, you."

The rest of the walk to Ivan's job was silent, given Mattie's sniffles from the cold and the voices of the people around them, but that was to be expected. As they reached the shop, Matthew made his way behind Ivan, acting all shy as he would around anyone else he wasn't aware of (Ivan was an exception).

The blond watched the elder clock in and followed him to the back of the shop, where he became intrigued by the amount of tools that were present in the place. "Woooaah."

Ivan chuckled at the teen. "I'll show you what all of this is for some other time, promise."

"Okay!" Matthew gave him a bright smile, holding onto his shirt as he followed him around to his work station.

"You have to promise that you will not get in the way while I work, alright? Do not be disruptive either, my boss doesn't take kindly to people procrastinating, and you making a scene would do just tha-"

"Morning, Ivan!" A loud voice called, startling the two of them. "Who are you talking to? Are you talking to yourself again, or are you singing?"

Ivan rolled his eyes, "Neither. I'm talking to..." He really didn't know how to answer that question. What if the guy knew the angel behind him? Oh, and how would said angel want him to respond to such a question?

"He's talking to me..right, dad?" Well, that answered his question for sure. Dad? Really kid? Bu he had to admit, Mattie did pretty freaking awesome with sounding much younger than he was just by making his voice softer than it's normally gentle tone. Usually, his voice would be at medium volume, but still hushed. At that moment, Matthew sounded like a shy twelve-year old girl.

"Did that kid just call you 'dad', Ivan?"

"Um, sure he did. I adopted him, and he wanted to come to work with me. Do you have a problem with that Gilbert?"

"Not at all. Let me see the little guy. Be careful with him though. Francis got pissed at me when I brought Feliciano in here, and he isn't even a child, so you might have some issues if Francis finds out about this. I'll keep my mouth shut though." Gilbert shuffled his way over to the two, and it was obvious just how easily he melted upon sight of Matthew.

"Oh, he's adorable! I want one! Get me one! You picked a cute one! Pick me a cute one so he could be cute and shit! I may just steal that little one right there. How's about it, little birdie?"

Matthew stuck his nose up and clung himself to Ivan. "Nah."

"Well, you heard the boy." Ivan was trying so hard not to clap with joy at Matthew's response.

"What's his name?"

"Matthew."

"Well, nice to meet you, Matthew. I'm Gilbert! If you have any questions, don't be scared to ask me if your dad's working, alright? I'll gladly explain anything you want!"

"Where do babies come from?"

That was enough to send Gilbert the other way. "Kid, I think you're growing on me," Ivan chuckled. "You know how to make him leave me alone, I'm very proud of you. But really? Did you have to call me dad? You could have called me your uncle or a babysitter or something."

"But I didn't, so you're stuck with dad. You'll get used to it."

As more workers piled in and fawned over Ivan's 'adopted son', the more nervous Matthew became before he finally ended up clinging to Ivan's leg as he worked on vehicles, to which Ivan retaliated by taking his desk chair, rolled it over beside the car, and had the blonde sit down in it so he wouldn't be in his way, but that didn't much help because Ivan became utterly distracted by the boy's soft breathing and the sleepy smile that appeared as the boy drifted off to sleep.

This cute little shit...
