"Kansas!" Charming called, cupping his hands around his mouth to hollar over the rushing water. He leaned casually against a face painting booth not too far away from where the ride stopped.
"Hey!" I grinned and hopped out of the red car with the little girl next to me as soon as the guy who worked The Waterfall let up the safety rail. I was soaking wet, and as I made my way over to his tall stature I braced for the perverted jokes he'd make.
Instead he said, "How are you even having fun?"
I gaped and whirled my head while he threw his arm over my shoulder. "What do you mean?"
He shrugged and looked around lazily. "Just that you act like a four year old."
"What do you mean?" I repeated, suddenly annoyed.
James shrugged. "You ride all the kiddy rides!"
"Because they're fun!"
His green eyes rolled. "I'm sure it's just amazing."
"Well you're not riding any rides, either!" I yelled.
He frowned at me, and stopped walking. "Chill out, Carrie," he said, puting his hands on my shoulders. "I'm just teasing you. What do you want to ride next?"
I went red under his serious eyes. I'd been moody all week and not because of my period . . .though I was on it. I was usually not moody, but suddenly everything James did pissed me off. And I'm pretty sure he knew, but was thankful, yet again, he hadn't said anything.
"Will you go in the haunted house with me?"
"Which one?" We laughed.
The first haunted house was small, the second one looked really lame, and the very last one was small, with a man out front who looked like he was going to grab someone and slice their heads off. I turned to James. "Never mind, I guess," I mumbled, put off that I wouldn't be spooked.
I sincerly loved haunted houses. It was a great feeling, oddly enough.
He frowned. "Why not?"
"They all look stupid!"
He looked around. "Not that one." James pointed behind me where the scary guy stood, watching people walk. "Come on," Charming said, eyes rolling. He grabbed my arm in a flurry of movements and was rapidly moving towards the man that would ensure our deaths.
"Maybe not . . ."
Charming turned to me, stopping in the middle of the flow of people. "What?"
"Sorry." I cringed at his tone. "But that guy looks creepy."
He glanced over his shoulder. "He looks like a pirate."
I laughed and glaced around him to see the guy staring us down. Squeaking, I moved back infront of James, who raised an eyebrow and glanced around. "He was watching us," I whispered harshly. "I'm scared!"
He grinned. "Come on, Kansas."
I fallowed behind him as he moved us to the haunted house. The guy stalked us with his eyes as we made our way in. I ran to the front of James and had him hide me from the Creepers stare, glancing back at Charming for confirmation I was alright. He laughed a little, a small smile on his pink lips.
