One of the sentries ran from the gate into the village and transformed into a man. Darius stood up from the midst of the men he was discussing with and beckoned the sentry closer.
"They have arrived, milord." The sentry said.Darius nodded and dismissed the sentry. He turned to his Beta, Herrick and said. "Prepare the men." And to his mate who had come out of the house to the shade of the tree they were all sitting, he said. "Let the preparations commence."
His mate nodded and hurried away while Darius walked out to where the path to the Alpha's court house began joining the members of his curious pack which were beginning to walk out of their houses to the path.
Soon the Queen's foot troop of soldiers arrived followed by the horsed Lycans led by Lucas and then the carriage bearing the royal emblem of the realm which was carrying the queen and her personal maid. On one of the horses riding behind the carriage, sat Theresa with a hood over her head. She heard some girls whispering among the people crowding both sides of the path to welcome the queen.
"Isn't that the scandalous seed of the late King Adolf?" An unmated girl, called Stella was whispering to the other, the alpha's daughter known as Claire and probably the most beautiful unmated in the pack but renowned to be pompous. "The half nymph princess subjected to the life of a low life because her mother committed suicide?"
"Unfortunately, she is." Claire said. "I've heard of her so called beauty, and yet no Lycan will mate her."
"Such shame, don't you think." Stella snickered and Claire joined in.
"I hear Moon's Call will be at the feast, tonight." Claire cooed huskily. "I can't wait to really see what he looks like up close. I've only admired him from afar."
Stella playfully wagged a warning finger at her. "You and your fantasies. Your father would have your head, you know?"
"What?" Stella shrugged. "I'm sure I'm not the only one who fantasizes about the handsome lone wolf. I dream of him all night when I touch myself."
Stella gasped and placed a hand over her mouth then giggled. "Your naughtiness has no bounds, Claire."
Claire scoffed. "I do really look forward to meeting him tonight. I hope he is as wild in bed as he's renowned to be a wild guardian."
"I'll speak no more of this, Claire." Stella chuckled. "Dream on but put in mind that your brother, Astrophel doesn't like him."
Claire snorted. "Astrophel is grumpy and picks on people. He hardly ever likes anyone. What do I care what he thinks, as long as Moon's Call has eyes on me."
"He doesn't strike me like one that has eyes for a mate and I believe that your father has mentioned so one too many a time." Stella replied.
"What do you expect from an isolated wolf. I'm certain that he can't tell the difference a mate can bring to his life. All the sweet pleasures of the bed and the most interesting is the bonding."
The foot Lycan soldiers split into two ways, to flank the carriage. When the carriage stopped, the Queen stepped down and with Lucas who dismounted his horse and they walked side by side to meet the Alpha and his family standing right in front of the feast hall.
"Lord Darius!" She said drily, obviously bored from her journey.
"Your majesty!" Darius took the Queen's hand and kissed the back. He let her hand go and his mate Elaine curtsied to her. The queen hardly spared her a glance. "Shall we?" Darius quickly gestured towards the feast hall with his hands, sensing the hostility from the queen.
The queen gave a subtle nod and followed him in and the others followed smoothly. An hour later, when it was dark and the bright moon was up, the lone wolf stood on a far away hill and observed the feast with its keen eyes and sight and after a moment, he moved down the hill carefully and headed for it with a trot for he was in no mood for such, so why hurry.
