"You are hungry." He told her still offloading the contents in the basket. She wanted to deny his words when her stomach suddenly growled and she saw a subtle smug smile lift the corner of his lips. He had sensed it even before her stomach growled out, betraying her. How did he know all things about her? He read her like an open book and it was weird. "I'll cook." He said and carried the basket still containing some food ingredients into the kitchen and she looked at him, surprised. It was no stress seeing him move around in the small kitchen because the dining table was overlooking the kitchen and one could easily see into the kitchen without having to stand up or bend to the side.
He scoffed when he noticed her surprised lifted brow. "You don't believe me?" He picked up a rather glinting knife which she suspected that he used in gutting the animals he hunted or that were caught in his traps. "Yeaaa...." He drawled. "Wild Lycan says it all... So not civilized, right?" He asked, turning to the side to glance her way.
She swallowed hard, stood up and waited at the kitchen doorway. "There's no need to cook. I'll just get going, I'm sure that Elaine already has something cooked and ready."
He paused what he was doing and turned to look at her fully. His gaze was so intense and it felt like his eyes were burrowing holes into her body and she shifted from one foot to the other, uncomfortable. "Fine..." He finally said, sensing her discomfort. "I'll walk you home."
She almost sighed in relief that he would let her go but she sure didn't want him to walk her home, she was better off without his scary company. She looked up at his face but his expression was impassive. "Thanks." She muttered eager to get going.
He quirked a fine brow and stated. "I didn't mean that..." Theresa felt her world sink around her. What kind of a man was this? "I only wanted to see your reaction." He completed then paused before he asked. "Are you so eager to get back to Astrophel?"
Theresa was taken aback by the unexpected question that she lifted her eyes to meet his. She sure she didn't know what to say for she floundered for words. "...um...he's...um nice..." She said, avoiding his gaze. "Easy...to talk to." She blurted her last reply but it was true compared to Lycidas.
He stared at her nodded then turned back to start slicing whatever he was trying to prepare. "Then tell Darius to wed you both. It's a good thing, you will get to stay in the pack than out here. You will be safe with Astrophel."
She stood there perplexed. Yes, she wanted Astrophel if he would have her. He was everything a woman could ever wish for but did Lycidas have to be so blunt about not wanting her at all, despite being mated to him? She was not through with her thoughts when he spoke again as calm as usual. "I'm not good enough for you, princess."
Her fear for him was replaced by sudden anger. "Stop-reading-my-mind!" She huffed, realizing too late that she had spoken to him angrily. She gasped and panicked as she saw him stop chopping some vegetables, the muscles in his back flexed and he straightened up from his semi hunched position because the chopping counter was too low for him and she saw the muscles in his arms flex too. He slowly turned to face her with that intimidating chest and those blue eyes again and she knew she was in big trouble. "I'm... sorry." She said, stepping backwards as he slowly advanced towards her still wielding the sharp knife, his barefooted steps were soundless on the wooden floor as he loomed above her.
