What do you want to do

Erin would come everyday, at the same time, with the same toolbox in her hand. Everyday asking what we wanted to do, and after taking a minute to look over our plans she would turn to us and say, "boys, I think I know what we're going to do today."

Our projects steadily got more amd more complex. But with more work came more fun. All of our parents had work or erends most of the day so it ended up just being the four of us, Candance, Erin, Ferb, and I, for a lot of the time. It was a great first few weeks of the summer, a time that couldn't get better. Or so I thought.

One day Candance, who was making some iced tea, said to Erin, "you know you would be a great engineer. Doing all these things."

"Or an architect." I piped up.

"I think you could do anything, you're great with you hands and you have a lovely personality." Ferb commented, looking Erin over. He didn't say it but I could hear him loud and clear add 'and you're cute to'.

Apparently, Erin could hear it to because she turned away, a little pink in the cheek. "I don't know." She said quietly.

Candace called,"well what do you want to do then?"

Erin, becoming a slightly darker shade, muttered " well, I kind of, always... wanted to sing."

We all looked at Erin in the purest surprize. It's not that what she said that was shoking, well maybe a little bit, but it was more of the fact that we weren't expecting it. Erin looked even more nervous than she did the day we met her and was now as red as the candy apple primer she was adding to the Go-cart.

"Have you ever sung before?" Ferb asked.

Erin looked at him for a minute then answered "yeah, a little bit. At my old church, I would sing this song at the children's mass."

"Can you sing it for us?" I asked, cut a bit short by Candance's quick hit and whisper of "don't be rude" befor I added, "I mean do you remember it?"

She looked at the sky for awile. Looking like someone who wants to do something, but knows they shouldn't. She shook herself back to reality and smile at us. "Sure, I can sing it if you want me to."

"I would love it if you would." Ferb said.

The three of us sat under the tree and Erin stood in front of us. She closed her eyes collecting herself and then opened her mouth. What came out was the best voice I had ever heard. She started off shy and quiet, but soon got more confidant.

Her voice and the song made me completly forget where I was and the things around me. I looked at my sister, she had eyes damp with amazement. Then I looked at Ferb, for the first time he was stunded to silence.

In what seemed like both an instant and an eternity, the song was over. Erin waited for us to say something but we were still entranced.

"Wow." Ferb finally said.

That covered it all.
