This Is The Start Of Us
"Marry me."
It didn't really come out as a question, but either way, Lauren's eyes were wider than they have ever been in her entire life. Y/N was still in her spot, mostly because Lauren was sitting on top of her and she was kind of forced to do so. Maybe Y/N would've ran out the moment she realized what she had just said. She was actually really scared at the moment because Lauren could freak out and just leave her here in this bowling alley.
Lauren stared at her frightened girlfriend. Unbeknownst to Y/N, Lauren was actually happy. She wanted to say yes but she wanted to give her girlfriend the benefit of the doubt and take he proposal back if she wanted to. She didn't want Y/N to feel like she had to mean it just because Y/N said in the spur of the moment. Lauren got out of Y/N's lap slowly, getting to her feet and turning her back to her girlfriend to step a couple feet away, which ultimately scared Y/N even more. She didn't know what that meant.
"Are you serious?" Lauren asked shakily.
Y/N thought for a moment. Letting herself really think about why she had suddenly said those loaded two words. Well, why wouldn't she of been serious? She wants to be with Lauren until she takes her very last breath and she couldn't imagine someone else being by her side. The idea of marriage has always been nuts to Y/N. She didn't understand why people would have to get married just to prove their undying love or their faithfulness. There are plenty of married couples that end up in divorce.
But then she thought about what it'd be like if she was married to Lauren... To wake up next to her every single morning. To see her in a white dress, walking down the aisle to her. To hear Lauren say "I do." To claim Lauren as not only her wife, but as her forever life partner and better half... it all seemed like a dream to Y/N. A dream that she'd never want to wake up from because Lauren would be next to her every step.
"Why wait?" Y/N whispered. Not entirely to Lauren, but to herself.
Lauren turned around upon hearing the mumbled words. Her hand was to her bottom lip as it trembled. "What?"
Y/N's eyes lifted to her girlfriends and she took a deep breath before repeating more clearly. "Why wait, Lauren?" she questioned. "Honestly?" she got to her feet and took Lauren's hands in her own. "You love me, right?"
"No question about it." Lauren quickly assured.
Y/N smiled small and chuckled. "And... would you like to be with me for the rest of our lives?"
"I wouldn't want to be with anyone else for such a long time." Lauren said through a light laugh.
"Okay then." Y/N sighed, pulling Lauren's hands up to her lips and kissing her girls knuckles before getting down onto one knee. "Marry me, Lauren Michelle." She wholeheartedly proposed. "Make me the upmost happiest, luckiest and most honored person alive... and become my wife. Marry me."
Tears welled up into Lauren's green eyes as she got down onto her knees to meet Y/N at eye level. Her hands released from her girlfriends and went to the tear stained cheeks of Y/N's. "I'd be happy to." She whispered. "Yes." She said more gleefully.
Y/N let out a breath of relief, excitement in her eyes. "Really?"
"Yes." Lauren said again as she smiled wide from seeing her girlfriends reaction to her acceptance.
