Evan woke up alone, frowing slightly. Wiping his eyes and standing tiredly, he pulled on a lose pair of sweats and his favorite tshirt, that wasn't his, before making his way downstairs. He stopped and rolled his eyes, unable to hold back the goofy smile that formed. His favorite breakfast was laid out on the table, surrounded by flowers, balloons, cheesy heart confetti, and a giant stuffed bear. The note beside it all read that the man who did all this would be back shortly.
Vanoss took the free time to rush up to his husband's office. He decorated the whole room with balloons and flowers and confetti, just as his lover had. It was their Valentine's tradition, before they were even married.
After he finished the setup, and his breakfast, he settled down in the large, plush leather recliner in the living room, playing a few video games while he waited. An hour or so later, the door opened, but Evan had already fallen asleep once again, waiting for him. Tyler smiled, setting down his bag. He crouched down, pushing back Evan's soft black hair. He gently kissed his forehead.
"Evan. Wake. Up." Between each word, he pecked his younger husband's face. Evan smiled in his sleep, his eyes fluttered open.
"Hi." He mumbled sleepily. His eyes still half closed. Tyler chuckled.
"Hey sleepyhead. You wanna go up to bed?" He asked him. Evan shook his head, sitting up and rubbing his eyes.
"Nuh-uh. You're back now." He managed to speak through a deep yawn. Tyler just smiled. Evan was too cute.
"Well I got you something." Tyler grabbed the bag before picking Evan up and sitting down, Evan now on his lap. Evan snuggled tiredly into his neck. Tyler pulled a large book out of the bag and set it on Evan's lap.
"A photo album?" Evan questioned, his fingertips running over the smooth leather cover. It was simple, not outdone or fancy. Evan loved it.
"Yeah. I took our box of photos to a craft store, and one of the workers helped me put this together for you for the past two hours." Tyler explained with a laugh. He sat back and watched the amusement in his husband's eyes. Evan flipped open a cover, the first picture being of them and their friends at a convention. Each photo was dated with a little summary. Evan smiled as he remembered the day. Evan continued to flip through the pages of their memories. Tyler just watched, his eyes full of love and adoration for the man on his lap.
"I remember this day." Evan whispered. The photo was a picture from the day Tyler proposed. It was during a panel at a convention. Tyler was on one knee on stage next to Evan, who was smiling so wide. Tyler chuckled. "You weren't even part of the panel. You just let yourself on stage and made me cry in front of everybody. You bitch." Evan laughed as silent tears rolled down his cheeks.
"You still said yes." Tyler replied with a laugh. He pecked Evan's cheek, making the Asian blush.
"Our wedding..." he muttered, his fingers lightly tracing over the picture. They stood together in tuxes, under a large white arch. Tyler was holding him with such love and protection. You could see it clearly in the photo, and that's what made Evan cry harder. He'd never actually seen how Tyler held him, though his friends told him countless times that Tyler held him like he was the most precious thing in the world. And to Tyler, he was. Even now, Evan could feel it in the way Tyler had his arms firm but gentle around Evan's waist, holding him back to his chest. His hands were strong, but full of tenderness and love.
"One of the best days of my life." Tyler mumbled into Evan's shoulder.
"Remember when Marcel got so drunk he confessed his feelings to Mini right in the middle of the dancefloor?" Evan asked with a giggle. Tyler laughed and nodded.
"Then Marcel woke up with a complete hangover and Mini took care of him, and they ended up confessing their feelings again." Tyler finished the story.
"Oh! And when Delirious took his mask off in front of everyone, then told Moo he loved him and wanted to be with him."
"Moo was so shocked seeing his face and hearing all that, he just tackled Delirious and wouldn't let him go." Tyler laughed.
"Their wedding is soon." Evan pointed out, it being three years since their own wedding. Moo and Delirious got engaged a year ago, and would be getting married soon after Valentine's Day.
"I'm happy for them." Tyler said. Evan nodded in agreement. He set the book aside, deciding to finish looking through it later. For now, he just wanted Tyler. Tyler reclined the chair and Evan laid snuggled up to him between the arm of the chair and his side. Tyler's fingers silently traced all over Evan, relaxing him more than he could explain. "If it wasn't for our friends, I never would have had the guts to tell you." Tyler mumbled, mostly to himself. Evan heard, looking up at him confused.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I was fucking terrified. You were, and are, my best friend. All I could think about was the downside. If I ruined everything, or screwed up, you'd never speak to me again. No way in hell did I want that. It took days for the guys to convince me to tell you how I felt about you. And I did. Now I owe them everything, because of them, I have everything I could ever want. An amazing job, a great best friend who is also such an amazing husband. Because of them, I risked it, you know? I thank them every day, and they just tell me to shut up." Tyler confessed with a quiet laugh. Evan shook his head with tears in his eyes.
"Shut up." He giggled, connecting their lips in a tender kiss. Tyler kissed back, his arms wrapping tight around Evan. Evan felt at peace, their lips locked, legs intertwined. Tyler's arms protective and strong wrapped around him. He should thank his friends, too.
