Chapter 24. 411, Information?

My plans of exploration are cut short by Gea coming into the dining room. She yawns, and glances at me. She sits down at the table and waves her hand. A plate with food on it materializes in front of her. Intrigued, I ask her “how did you do that?” she looks at me like I’m an idiot. “With magic, dear. Fay aren’t the only ones who can cast spells. Being an Elementalist or a Sorcerer doesn’t just deal with elements, once you concurred that you can do real magic.” She says. “That’s what I’m doing with your power sweetheart” she daintily places a piece of bacon in her mouth. She swallows. “Well? Aren’t you going to eat?” she asks me. “I already did” I say quietly, “ah, good.” She continues eating. I sit down at the table, hoping when she’s done she’ll tell me something. “What are you waiting for, dear? Don’t you want to explore your new home, Pet?” I’m getting annoyed at her never calling me my name. “No, just I want to know more about magic” I say. “Why? You can’t use it while I have the spell on you. And it’s not going to break unless one of us… ah! Thought you could get the cure out of me ay?” She raises her eyebrow at me, I stay silent. After a few seconds she continues eating “Well you’re clever I’ll give you that. For being clever I’ll give you a reward. First: information. Magic isn’t what you humans think it is. It’s not wizards and witches, that’s witchcraft, bad for the soul. No, Magic is something an Elementalist is born with. Now I’ve given you information, second reward. A gift: Anything you want dear?” she asks me. I think. I want to be free, but that won’t happen. “A garden.” I say. She frowns. “Well that difficult. But I’ll see what I can do.” She has finished eating, and waves her hand again. The plate vanishes. “I will see you later” she says. She walks away. I wait until I’m sure she’s gone. Then I rush out to look around. See if there’s anything that I can use to escape.

As I wander around I find an underwater pool. It is beautiful. The water is crystal clear, lite up with the crystals. I look in it and I see little fish about the size of the fay. I look closer and see they aren’t really fish, the look like dragons, with bat wings for fins and a mermaid’s tail. They swim in little zig zags, all over the place like the fay; I decide to call them mer-dragons. I watch them swim around and chase each other for a while. They’re so cute. I almost feel happy. I sigh. This little pool is so beautiful. I wonder what else is down here. Maybe an underground forest? That would make me happy. Watching the mer-dragons reminds me of the koi in my little pond. I miss them so much. I remember then we made the koi pool. I had been eight and I wanted a gold fish. Mom went a bit over board and got me Koi. Dad dug a small pond for them, and then we lined it with rocks and things. We put the water in and let it sit for a while. The next day we put the koi in. There are three of them. And to this day we still have those three fish. We named them Yin, Yang, and Bob. Henri and I came up with the first two, Jen, (who was five at the time) named Bob. We feed them regularly; in hopes maybe they will live for a long time. I hope they are still being fed. I hope my whole garden is being taken care of. I look up from my day dream, looking around at the underground pool. I get up. I’ve explored enough for today. I need to get back to my room and check on Haden. I walk to where I had come in, with Lily on my shoulder. I take one last glance at the Underground pool, then turn and go to my room. I’m sure I will be back again.
