Chapter 5

The next day I spent in our room with Susan catching up with each other since Peter was busy helping Caspian. We talked of America, England and all things gossip.

"They were all very nice but most of them were just not my type," Susan spoke of her suitors.

"And by type you mean Prince Caspian?" I joked and she hit my knee.

"Eleanor! Not so loud!" She giggled.

"What it's true though. You both obviously have feelings for each other," I said nudging her. We sat and talked for most of the day when Lucy came running in with a younger girl.

"Eleanor! Susan! Look we have a new friend, Gael. Remember from the island?" She grinned.

Gael smiled slightly at me and I waved, "Hi Gael."

"Your Majesties," she nodded her head.

"I wanted to see if you wanted to come with us to show her around the ship," Lucy suggested.

"That sounds like a great idea," I smiled getting up. Lucy led us out of the room and around the ship as we gave Gael a tour. Once we had gone pretty much everywhere Lucy and Susan took Gael to our room to help make a place for her to sleep. I went in search of Peter and Caspian and found them looking out at another island across the horizon.

"It looks inhabited. But if the lords followed the mist east, they would have stopped here," Caspian told them.

"Could be a trap," Peter said as I walked up beside him.

"Like the last island," I added as he smiled noticing I was there.

"Or it could hold some answers, Caspian?" Edmund asked waiting for him to answer.

Caspian looked through the spyglass, "We'll spend the night on shore. Scour the island in the morning," He said and handed it to Drinian.

"Aye, Your Majesty," Drinian nodded before going to get the crew to prepare the boats.

"I'll go let Lucy and Susan know that we're going ashore," Edmund said and Caspian followed him leaving Peter and I alone.

"I missed going on adventures like this," I said wrapping my arms around Peter's waist resting my head on his chest as we watched the sunset across the ocean.

"Me too. But America really is beautiful, there's so much to do there," he said.

"I wish I could go," I sighed.

"I said I would help you," Peter said looking down at me.

"I know, but I want to do it myself. Besides you need to help your brother and sister," I told him, "They are truly miserable."

"You must be too. What are you going to do once they leave?" He asked.

I let go of Peter as I got more annoyed, "I don't know. I'll figure it out."

"Please, Eleanor. Let me help you...." He said grabbing my hands.

"Peter, can we please just not talk about it?" I suggested taking my hands out of his and going to the railing of the ship. He came over and wrapped his arms around me.

"I'm sorry, love. I've upset you," he kissed my cheek.

"It's alright. I'm just used to being on my own," I answered truthfully. It was true ever since my mother had died and my father left I was always on my own. Even after I met Peter and we lost each other but we always found our way back it was just a normal thing for me to be on my own.
