Chapter 6

After we left the island a storm started and it went on for what seemed like weeks. Everyone kept to themselves knowing what lied ahead and feared of turning against each other. I sat in the window sill as Peter, Caspian and Drinian mapped out the route to Ramandu Island.

"So, we're stuck here, at half rations, with food and water for two more weeks, maximum. This is the last chance to turn back, Your Majesties," Drinian said before I tuned them out.

I held my knees to my chest; everything seemed so dark, dreary and sad. You could see it in everyone's faces the terror of facing their worst fears. I watched out the window watching the waves rock the ship and the rain fall down the window pane.

"Eleanor," Peter said putting a hand on my shoulder.

I jumped at his touch. I looked around and noticed the Caspian and the captain had left the room.

"I'm sorry. Are you alright?" He asked sitting beside me keeping a hand on my knee.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I answered as he moved his hand to my back rubbing it slightly.

"Why don't you go get some sleep?" Peter suggested but he knew as well as I did that when any of us slept we dreamt of nightmares.

I yawned agreeing with him and rubbed my eyes that now had dark circles underneath them from the lack of sleep.

"Come on," Peter held his hand out to me and I took it before he led me to my room. Lucy was sitting by the window fast asleep. Gael wasn't anywhere to be seen but she was probably in the other quarters with Susan.

I slid into the bed and Peter kissed my forehead and turned to leave, "Please don't leave me alone," I sobbed quietly grabbing his hand. Peter turned around with empathy in his eyes before getting in the bed beside me.

"It's okay. I'm here, love," he said holding me to his chest as I cried silently.

Those were my nightmares, though I was used to being alone I always knew I had someone there for me or some kind of hope but in my nightmares everyone abandoned me and I had no one or any hope left. But with Peter here beside me it was easier to sleep because I knew he was there. I soon fell asleep in Peter's arms and the next time I woke up I heard someone yell. I sat straight up quickly and saw Lucy across the room at the fire place just as it burned brightly before settling again. Peter was still sound asleep beside me, "Lucy? Are you alright?" I asked getting out of the bed.

"Yes, I'm fine," she said wiping tears from her eyes. I sat beside her in front of the fire and she leaned onto my shoulder, "I let it in. I let the evil in," she cried.

"It's going to be okay," I said hugging her while putting my hand on her head brushing her hair.

"I thought I wasn't pretty. I wanted to be pretty like you and Susan," she said.

"Aw Lucy, you are beautiful," I smiled pulling her away from me and I brushed a few stray tears from her eyes.

"You really think so?" She sniffled.

"Of course you are!" I squeezed her. We sat in front of the fire together for a bit longer in silence while watching the flames.

"No!"

Lucy and I both jumped at the sudden noise looking over at the bed where Peter shot up breathing hard and sweat beating down his face.

"Eleanor?" He asked looking around and I got up quickly.

"Peter, I'm right here," I said sitting in front of him. I caressed my hand on his cheek and he pulled me in close.

"I thought I lost you," he said putting his hands on the back of my head pulling me in closer.
