3: New Members And Abilities

  I heard that the fire nation took over Omashu. They captured their crazy king and everything. It was oddly simple to sneak in actually. They really need to work on their security. I was headed for the palace, or whatever you call it, when I noticed something. I heard people talking. I looked over the ledge of the building I was standing on I saw two people in the center of a circle of fire nation solders. Upon closer view I realized, I found who I was looking for.

  Before I could move I heard rumbling and a loud BAM! I followed the noise. "The Resistance!", someone shouted. I saw my friend take off and so did I. I was far behind her as she threw her needles at some girl who used ice to block them. A water bender...In Omashu? I was stunned for a second until I heard a loud crash. Her back was towards me and a big pile of rubble in front of her. She sighed. "Still throwing darts I see." I said. She didn't even turn around. With one smooth motion, she sent a throwing star straight at my face. I ducked as I nearly hit me. "Nice to see you too Mai.", I said as she turned around.

  Turns out life here is boring. At least according to Mai, but then again what's fun to her? I've been with Mai all day...well most of the day. Her parents don't know who I am so I've been meeting with her in secret. It's actually a lot harder then I thought, they have her on a tight leash. There has been some 'outbreak of pentapox'...is that even a real thing? Anyway, they let all the 'infected' out of the city. Seems pretty dumb to let all the citizens leave but hey, I'm not running the place.

  I heard something about royalty visiting so I was on my way to see what was up. I finally made it and saw something I should have expected. Ty Lee was hugging Mai and Azula was standing behind her. "Well Azula called a little louder", Ty Lee said as she pulled away from the embrace. I walked up to them. "Hello Princess Azula.", I said as I bowed, "Ty Lee. Mai." Ty Lee looked at me in shock but quickly replaced it with a smile. "Azeala? What are you doing here?", Ty Lee asked as she pulled me into a hug. I was reluctant to hug her back. She was a trader in my eyes. However, she was my best friend and so I hugged her. "Visiting an old friend.", I said as I pulled away and put a hand on Mai's shoulder. Ty Lee still had her smile and Azula was looking at me with great interest. I noticed that Ty Lee has her friendship cuff on. Maybe she wasn't a trader after all. "Azeala," Azula said while thinking. "are you the Azeala from the circus?", she asked. I nodded."I have a mission and I'll need you both.", Azula said as she placed a hand on Mai's and Ty Lee's shoulders. "Count me in. Anything to get me out of this place.", Mai replied.

  We were in the palace or whatever you want to call it. Apparently, the Resistance took baby...whatever his name is, as a hostage or something. "But really what did you expect by letting all the citizens leave.", Azula spoke pulling me from my daydream. Azula went on some rant about how she was reconciring Omashu and renaming it 'New Ozai'. I spaced out , it was REALLY boring just standing here up against a wall. Mai, Azula, and Ty Lee started to walk away and I stayed in my same spot. There goes my two closest friends, taken by Azula again. "Aren't you coming Azeala?", Ty Lee asked startling me. I jumped a little. I faced them. All three of them are looking at me, waiting. I stand up straight and raise an eyebrow...what? "Well come on. We don't have all day.", Mai said turning around. Intrigued, I followed.

  We were on our way to make a trade with the Resistance. King Bumi for Mai's brother. We finally get there and 3 people, plus the baby, stand on the other side of...the...platform or roof...thing of an unfinished building. King Bumi was lowered by a chain, in a box made of metal with only his face showing, and landed behind us."Did you bring my brother?", Mai shouted. They said something back, but I wasn't listening. I just realized something and decided to speak up. "I'm sorry but if I may interject.", I said. Mai nodded. "I just don't understand. Your trading a king, a powerful earth bending king, for a 2 year old? It doesn't seem like a fair trade.", I continued. Mai gave me a slight nod. "Your right. The deals off!", she said turning back to face the people across the space. The King was lifted up again and one of the kids took off running. He pulled out a glider, I've only ever heard of them with the air nomads...wait! Azula shot her blue fire at him. He dodged it but lost his hat in the process. I saw a blue arrow on his bald head. "The Avatar.", Azula and I said in unison. Then she took off after him, leaving us to deal with the other two.

  We started running at them. Mai already had her darts in hand. They were running away. The guy fell with Mai's brother held safely to his chest. Ty Lee took off to take care of him. Mai and I took the water bender. Mai threw her darts and the bender blocked them with planks of wood. Dang that was close. She shot water at Mai and I then formed a whip to tripped Ty Lee.

  We fought for a while. Mai shooting her needles and me trying to get close enough to the bender so I could block her chi. She whipped at Mai but Mai dodged it and shot another needle at her. The water bender once again blocked it with ice and froze Mai's arm dart shooter. I tried to throw a kick at her. She saw me and threw me to a wall with her water. As I was getting up, I saw Ty Lee coming from behind her and chi blocked her. Ty then joined Mai. The water bender tried to pick up her fallen water but failed. Mai said something but I couldn't hear her threw the throb in my head. Mai raised her hand and was ready to throw a star. Out of nowhere, a boomerang comes and knocks it from her fingertips. I followed it and the boomerang  belonged to the guy from earlier. I was finally on my feet when a flying bison lands and flaps his tail on the floor. The air produced threw me back a bit, due to my distance, but not as much as it did Ty Lee and Mai. They started to take off. I started to sprint. I tripped, but instead of falling I redirected the momentum and did a front walk over instead.

  As I came up...lighting shot up from my mouth. My vision was blue. I missed the bison though. The riders looked back at me in utter shock. I raised my hand up to my mouth, flabbergasted. I turned to face my friends. They stood there, eyes wide. I've never seen Mai show so much emotion. "We can't tell ANYONE about this." Was all I said. I don't know what just happened but I can't have anyone else knowing. They nodded.
