Prologue-
~ Caroline's P.O.V ~
*Flashback- 18 Years Ago*
I stared at the baby girl in my arms, my cheeks wet with tears, her tiny fingers playing with the strands of my brown hair. I smiled down at her as she giggled with her bright green eyes, the door swung open as I saw a very dishevelled man standing in the doorway with a tired looking nurse behind him, my ex-boyfriend and the man I loved "Jayce, what are you doing here?" I asked softly.
"I'm here to see my baby girl, Carrie"
He said and I winced at the nickname.
"You let me down, Jayce. You were supposed to be here hours ago" the nurse walked over to me to check the monitor in case there were any problems.
"What? So, you're not going to let me see my own daughter?" He asked with a fierce look in his eye.
"That's exactly what's happening, Jayce. You can never keep your word and you're always late. That's why we broke up and that's why I'm not going to let this beautiful little girl in arms feel the pain that I've felt because of you. Face it, you don't care! If you did, you would've been here when I called" I snarled, rocking the baby girl as she had no idea what was really happening.
"My phone was dead, Carrie!" He shouted, making the tiny infant in my arms go wide-eyed as she started to get scared.
"Don't scream, you're scaring her. Don't call me that, either. In fact, just leave. You've disappointed everyone enough, go" I ended the discussion as I held her little hand with my finger.
I looked and saw him glaring at me, he started to walk over to us but didn't reach us as the nurse stood in front of him "Sir, I'm afraid you're going to have to leave. Visiting hours are over and we have no tolerance for violence" She stated and tried to push him lightly out the door.
"YOU'RE NOT TAKING MY BABY AWAY FROM ME! SHE'S MINE JUST AS MUCH AS SHE'S YOURS!" He started yelling as he threw the nurse to the floor as she yelled for security and he started running at the bed.
I covered the little girl with my arms as she was screaming and crying out of fear, her little grip on my finger tight. I waited for the impact but it never came and all I heard was a grunt and thud on the floor, I looked up and saw security on top of my ex-boyfriend on the hospital floor, tasering him.
His body shook violently as the electricity soared through his body, wearing his energy out.
