Chapter 10: Fangz

Adam didn't show up for the rest of the week. I wanted to talk to him but he told Axel to not tell me his phone number or address. I tried insisting but Axel wouldn't budge so I left it alone. During lunch today I decided to eat outside. It was a bit chilly but it felt good. I ate a sandwich on the floor. I sat under a big tree, eating my food slowly.

I walked around when I finished. The school had a big track that was nicely decorated with bushes, flowers, benches, and there was even a small cascade. I took a bench by the splashing water. I played with the zipper from my jacket because I had nothing better to do.

"Wow. I thought you'd be inside sabotaging something."

Adam walks towards me and I can't help but smile. He looks up and the bruises are visible. They look like they are healing but you can see the purple and red. He sits beside me and looks at the floor.

"Listen I j-"

"You weren't going to apologize right?"

"Maybe I was."

"I am the one who needs to apologize. Axel talked to me. I know that you just wanted to help so thank you."

This is the first time he has ever apologized to me. Everyone talks about how he never says sorry or feels bad for anyone.

"Wow you apologized."

"Did not. I said I needed to apologize but I didn't."

"Whatever but you are very welcome."

I was curious as to why Shawn picked a fight with him. What had Adam done? I didn't really feel like asking because it wasn't any of my business. I know when to shut up and mind my own business. Sometimes...

"Well I better go I have to be home early today."

"Yeah I also have to get to class."

I stand up and grab my bag from the floor.

"See you later." I wave and walk back towards school.

I make my way to class slowly just looking around the halls. I was already late when I got to the school building so I just decided to walk around.I found out that people like to skip class a lot and they hang out in an empty room or in the bathrooms.

"You're the new girl, right?"

"I'm not so new. I've been here for like two weeks."

"I don't think we've met. My name is Alec."

"I'm Kimberly but you can call me Kim."

Alec was wearing a baseball hoodie and khakis. He was quite short though, but he was a good two inches taller than me. I am not the tallest person. My eyes fixed on his hair for a while it was nicely combed and styled. He looks nice.

"I've heard. You were the one who stood up to Shawn, right? For uh... what's his name?"

"Adam."

"Yes him."

"Yeah." I said shrugging like it was no big deal but I could have died.

"Why would you though I mean you must have not known but Adam is like a drug addict. He uses everything there is out there."

What? Adam doesn't look like he does any of that. Axel told me they barely smoked. Drugs? No way. I know that I don't know Adam very much but... no.

"What? Did Shawn tell you to tell me this?"

"Shawn had nothing to do with this okay I hate the guy I would never help him with anything. This is true I saw Adam outside the school in the morning buying drugs."
