"I am tired of this place I hope people change. I need time to replace what I gave away. My hopes they are big, I must keep them small. Though I try to resist, I still want it all."
-Troye SivanShe stares open mouthed at her doctor.
She is a regular to her woman doctor. Once a month, she will get checked up on to make sure she is clean.
It's a wise decision since she is a promiscuous girl. She wants to be safe.
She has been lucky so far- until now.
She is pregnant. And worse- she has no earthly idea as to whose it is.
"Cara," her doctor said. "Did you hear me?
She nods. She can't believe it. She is always careful. She takes birth control, and never has unprotected sex.
She unwillingly starts to cry. "I can't raise a baby. I'm eighteen. I can barely care for myself" Her doctor sighs.
"There are....other options. If you feel like you are incapable of caring for a child, there are other routes to go."
She wipes away a few tears. "Wouldn't I be a monster for killing my own baby?"
The doctor frowns. "That is a decision only you can decide. There are ways such as putting your baby up for adoption. There are many couples who are desperate for a newborn baby. You would make someone very happy. But if you feel abortion is the best way, then by all means do it."
She is scared and doesn't know what to do.

Edit 5/29/19: there's always been a lot of debate on this chapter, and I came back and read this after the recent Alabama abortion laws. I want to clear something up:
I will not tolerate joking, negative, derogatory, rude, or cruel comments about this. I do not find abortion jokes funny, and despite your opinion neither should you. There are HURTING people out there— do not make light of their struggle.
I don't mind controlled and kind discussions in my comments, but I refuse to allow people to fight and be cruel to one another. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. My characters have the right to their own opinion. And disclaimer, the author's views do not necessarily correlate to the characters. I often try to write characters that fit outside of the mold that I personally know.Furthermore, this story should've told you by now— you don't know the other person's reasoning for their opinion. Just because someone has an abortion doesn't mean they are a murderer and hate babies. Just because someone fights for the lives of the unborn doesn't mean they hate women's rights. Ask each other why they believe the way they do. You might find their reasoning is similar to yours. There are two sides to every story.
Remember to be kind to one another in a world that has forgotten what it means to be kind.
Love,
Charlotte.
