Olivia's POV
"Father, what is this about?" I hissed, walking side by side with him down to the conference room. Today, especially of all days, I was in no mood to be playing around. I was beyond stressed, and the fact that this "surprise meeting" was just sprung on me helped absolutely nothing. Our profits were down, production was down, and we just had a major company-wide lay offs.
"Sweetheart, can't you just trust me?" He answered vaguely and smiled, laying his hand gently on my shoulder. I gave a skeptical look, shaking my head. Of course I couldn't trust him, he had an affair with my ex boyfriend's mother and didn't have the decency to tell me. Now some might say I'm a little bitter about the whole ordeal, and they'd be 100% correct. Do you know how embarrassing it is to air out all your dirty family laundry in front of the people you work with?
Let me answer for you. It's very embarassing.
And the fact that my relationship went down the drain shortly after was an extremely disappointing thought.
With this in mind, my thoughts drifted to Dominic. My thoughts went to what he was possibly doing, or how he was. To say I missed that man was the understatement of a lifetime. I thought about him everyday, and often drowned myself in work to prevent breaking down again. Emily suggested I started dating again, but how could I? I obviously had no time to date now, and I really wouldn't want to even if I had the chance. Dominic had set my standards to impossibly high, and true to his word he ruined me for all men.
I cleared my throat and rid my mind of any thoughts of Dominic, or his company. My heels clicked, walking at a fast pace because apparently we were already late. This made no sense to me, I'm the CEO of this company. I know everything that goes on here, you think I'd know about a simple profits meeting. But no, I was told the board was attending which heightened my nerves on an unhealthy scale. We finally reached the room, but my father stopped us both as my hand reached for the doorknob.
"Okay honey, please be on your best behavior and act as professionally as possible." My father warned in a strict voice. Why wouldn't I be professional?
"What are you talking about? I'm always on my best behavior, especially when it pertains to work." I spoke, confused to say the least. He shrugged, opening the door himself.
The room was buzzing with conversation, just like a typical meeting. Then, in the matter of a second, it wasn't.
Dominic
He stood innocently next to Damian, talking to one of the members of my board. When I took a good glance at the rest of the room, I noticed not only my board was there but so was Wilson's.
What the hell was going on?
His eyes hadn't reached mine, but Damian's had. Immediately he slapped Dominic's shoulder and pointed to me. I looked down, taking a seat next to my father. I wasn't sure what to do now, I was still frozen in shock. But that didn't stop Demian and Dominic from making their way over to me.
"Olivia Evans, you get more beautiful every time I see you." Damian spoke with true sincerity in his eyes, pulling me out of my seat and proceeding to hug me. I hugged back, still a bit stiff. I kept all eye contact away from Dominic, but his large statute just couldn't be ignored. I could feel his eyes blazing into me, and my heart raced at this.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, utterly shocked.
"Now, is that any way to treat an old friend?" He smiled warmly, but I barely noticed. My attention was only on how to get through this catastrophe without having to deal with Dominic.
