"Piper!", the man became frustrated, "Piper! Where are you going!", he demanded from his daughter.
"Away from you!", she screamed as she stomped away in the direction of the vehicle that just took Alex.
Bill Chapman continued to follow Piper trying to catch up to her to explain the situation. But of course stubborn old Piper would go on with her dramatic scene, he thought.
Picking up his speed in his last steps he caught up with her, "Piper", he soften his tone with her.
She tried to continue her path but he wouldn't allow her. He grabbed her shoulders firmly but not necessarily enough to harm her.
He could see tears forming in her little girl's eyes. Guilt and concern quickly consumed his mind and heart.
"Piper it's okay sweetie", he took her in his arms, but she quickly and harshly pushed him away.
"Where did they take her", she demanded.
He took a breath to calm himself, "to the police station", he said regretfully as he knew what was going to be Piper's next move.
And to he was right, as to his prediction, she continued her path without another word. He wasn't going to let her walk though. It's a dangerous world outside this neighborhood, he thought.
· a thirty minute car ride later ·
"Do you want me to go inside with you?"
She didn't bother answering him and shut the car door, running towards the door of the police station.
Immediately she went to the front desk area, "Um can you check if my friend is here, Alex Vause", she politely asked the man behind the computer.
He looked a little annoyed but proceeded to check his computer, "Umm...yeah. Here she is, she just got here a while ago".
She sighed a little pissed off, "Ok well did she get charged with anything or whatever, can I take her home or what", she asked trying to keep her cool.
"Um yeah one charge for trespassing into a private neighborhood", he said.
"Okay well I live in that neighborhood, shes my guest, I invited her, so can you drop the charge"
"Sorry miss, I'm afraid you'll have to fill out some paperwork for that and go to then court to officially drop it off her record"
"Ok well fine, but can I at least take her home with me please", she said a little louder than she expected.
"ok well um let me see here", he said clicking some stuff on his computer again, "oh ok well she's up for bail. That would be, uh ok here, $500. However since she's a minor, a legal guardian needs to come pick her up".
Tapping her fingers on the counter she thought about her next move. Although it didn't really matter at this point because Alex's mom would find out either way now.
What made things even more frustrating is that she didn't even have her mom's phone number so she would have to get her father to drive all the way across town just to get to Alex's apartment and talk to her mom.
"I'll be back in an hour or so, can you please tell Alex that Piper was here and she'll get her out of here real soon", she asked the guy.
"sorry miss but we're not allowed to pass along messages-"
"please can this one time. Shes probably really freaking out right now", she pleaded.
He sighed and nodded his head.
"thank you", she mouthed out to him as she went back to the car.
"Daddy I know this probably isn't how you imagined spending your day today, but your the one who decided to have children and spoil them, so can you please drive me to Alex's place so I can talk to her mom", she asked him with her puppy eyes.
How could he deny?
"Alright type in the address", he gave in.
She smiled and typed in the address to Alex's appartment. He followed the directions curious to know more about this Alex character who seemed to be a good friend of Piper's if she's going through all this trouble.
"So can you tell me more about this Alex girl", he asked hopeful to get an honest detailed response.
She contemplated whether or not to speak, but since she remembered he would be the one paying Alex's bail she might as well tell him good things about Alex.
"Well she's um really smart, always has a book in front of her face. And she's also a really kind hearted person. I'm actually shocked over this whole situation, since it's not like her to handle things in an aggressive manner", she explained to him.
"How long have you know her", he asked.
"Um...seven years", she said remembering that dramatic day that she and Alex met.
He looked at her daughter with wide eyes, but looked back towards the road remembering he was driving, "Seven years!", his words got caught in his throat.
"Yeah cause we met when we were ten, and I'm seventeen now, so yeah seven years daddy"
"Why is this the first time I'm hearing about her then", he asked completely dumbfounded by the situation.
Piper was about to respond when she heard the GPS say that they have reached their destination. Bill got out the car and looked around his surroundings, he was in the poor part of town.
He looked at his daughter putting together all the pieces to complete the puzzle.
"Um, yeah. You see Alex's family isn't exactly the wealthiest", Piper said walking towards the entrance of the apartment complex.
