Ever since the day Piper went after Alex to comfort her, they developed a friendship. It wasn't really anything special. They just felt so drawn to each other. As if they were meant to be apart of each other's lifes.
Unfortunately for them, they had to keep it a secret.
You see Piper, unlike Alex, was born in a rich family. Her parents wanted the best for her, which meant the best clothes, the best education, etc. That included the best people to be around. So her parents arranged for her to be friends with the rich white girls.
Piper didn't rebel. She just did as she was told. She didn't know why she listened to her parents, she just did.
The reason Piper was currently in public school, was because the private school that she was supposed to go to was rumored to be infested with rodents. Though it was merely just a rumor, probably started by the snobby children that went there, it was enough for Piper and Polly's parents to put them in public school until they were old enough to attend the private high school in town.
When Piper met Alex, she knew that she couldn't tell her parents about her since Alex wasn't wealthy like them. And they certainly wouldn't approve of them being friends.
And so, their secret friendship began.
"Do you wanna go over to my house today", Alex asked.
"Yeah! No, wait. I can't, I have to watch my little brother today", Piper said sadly.
"Oh. It's cool we can just go hang out at the park with him", Alex said.
"My mom only let's us play in the park in our neighborhood", Piper said.
"Well maybe I can try and sneak in", Alex suggested.
"What if we get in trouble!"
"Don't worry Piper I won't get caught. I sneak into places all the time. Besides I don't see why you would be the one to get in trouble", Alex said.
"I mean. I guess so..."
"Great. I'll try to get to your place as soon as school's over. It might take me a while to walk over there though. I guess I'll just take the bus, but um, I should get there by maybe, 4", Alex said after calculating everything in her head.
Alex was really smart when it came to math and english. Science was Alex's worst subject. Piper was really smart and good at all subjects. She was a straight A student.
"Okay I'll see you at 4 then."

"Alright Piper I'm off to go to the tea house. If you need anything just ask Nanny Gemma", Piper's mother said to her.
"Yes mother", Piper said with a fake smile.
Her mother kissed her on the cheek, "be a good girl and take care of your brother please".
"Gemma, I'll be back late, so please make sure they both get to bed on time", she said to the nanny.
"No problem ma'am", Gemma said in her thick Spanish accent.
And with that Piper's mother left.
"Nana can I go to the park", Piper asked Gemma.
Gemma was like Piper's second mother. She loved her very much. They've grown a bond since Piper's parents weren't usually around much.
"Your brother is sleeping mija. So I don't think we can go to the park today", Gemma said in an apologetic tone.
"Then can I go by myself please. I'll just be a few blocks away. Please Nana?"
