Dedicated to @33parkroad for their amazing OC. I really, really hope you like this. Also, sorry for any confusion to anyone, I accidentally published this part before it was finished.

I sit at a picnic table outside during lunch break reading Ender's Game. Science fiction isn't usually my thing — unless it's Hunger Games or Divergent of course — but oh my gosh this is amazing.

I feel a tap on my shoulder and turn to look around, my blond hair spinning with me. "Hey Annabeth!" I say as literally my only real friend at school slides into the seat beside me. Sure there was Ruby who would occasionally sit with us at lunch, and then there was Stacy my science lab partner, but those two always ditched me in an instant. Annabeth never did.

"Did you know that the average person blinks twenty times per minute?" I ask.

"Where did you get that one?" she asks.

"I don't even know anymore," I respond, lost. "Did you know that on average, I spout 3 random facts every hour?"

Annabeth just laughs now and I grin, taking a bite out of my sandwich. Another thing about Annabeth that I like, she's never mocked me for spouting out random facts. Other people will just laugh at me and ask me why I say these ridiculous things, but Annabety never has.

"Hey, I'm meeting with some friends after school. I was wondering if you'd like to come with me and meet them?" Annabeth asks.

"Uh, let me think about that...Yes! Of course I want to meet them!" I say quickly. "Are any of them your booooooyfriend?" I ask, nudging her and winking.

She laugh at my actions but blushes none the less. Annabeth has told me little of her godly boyfriend, not even his name. "So I'll get to meet him?"

She smiles a bit, her cheeks still flushed. "Yes."

"YASSSS!" I scream. "Only the best for my Annabeth!"

She rolls her eyes and puts a hand on my shoulder so I'm not tempted to stand on the table and scream in victory. "Come on. Lunch is almost over."

I frown, but climb off the picnic bench and we both head to our classes, just as the first bell rings. "See ya," Annabeth waves to me as she begins to jog over to the newer building.

"Ciao." I start my steady walk over to the older building.

The rest of the day all I can think about are Annabeth's friend. Her boyfriend's coming. Who else? How many will there be? Will any of them like me? I shake my head to dispel the negative thoughts, put on a smile and turn back to the teacher who's droning on about the civil war.

Wait...how'd I get in History? Is it seriously last period? Have I...gosh, I spent the entire afternoon worrying. Oops. I'm sure that if they're Annabeth's friends they'll be nice, I'm sure that they'll like me. And if they don't, well, there loss, right? I smile for real and look down at my notebook, the paper is entirely blank. Oh well, I probably know most of this stuff anyways.

My leg begins to tap underneath the desk. With my hand I try to hold it and ground it to the floor so it doesn't move and make noise, but it keeps going, dispelling all my extra energy. I curse the world of ADHD.

"Miss Singer." I look up. The teacher, Mr. Fraser is leering over me. "You care to tell me what the board says."

I squint at the black board over his shoulder. I read a lot, so you would think that this would be a snap. But no, because ADHD wasn't enough, no, I needed to be dyslexic too.

The pressure of everyone staring at me isn't making it easier either.

As I stare harder, trying to see the words, they rearrange themselves. I squint through my thin rimmed glasses, desperately wanting to make them out. But they keep moving around, making it all hopeless. I sigh in frustration and slap my hand on the desk. "No sir, I can't make them out," I tell him meekly.
