When we got down stairs and saw blueberry muffins for us on the counter. I smiled knowing that my grandmother made them because they're my favorite. We each grabbed one and I took a bite. They tasted better than I remembered.
"I remember we use to have these all the time when we were little," Trent said smiling. "We use to always ask for more."
"I remember." I thought of being a kid and smiled. "We had these for breakfast almost every day."
We started walking out to the car as we ate our muffins. When we got out there the car was started and my mom and grandmother were already in the front seat. Trent and I got into the back seat and we left. After a few minutes of driving, one of my favorite songs came on and I had to sing along. Trent gave me a sideways look and I beamed up at him.
"Flashlight is my song!" I said then continued singing.
Trent smiled and said "I can tell."
When the song ended, I laughed and tried not to squeal when the next song came on.
"Let me guess 'Fight song is my song'," Trent teased.
I smiled and nodded. "Yup." I sang along and laughed.
Then a doing came on that I never expected. When I was your man by Bruno Mars. I felt a stab of pain in my gut.
"Are all these songs on a CD?" I asked my mom.
"Yeah," She said happily. "It had your name on it. There were even a few cute hearts on it."
"Take it out," I almost growled.
"Why honey?"
"Just take it out." That time I had to stop myself from yelling.
She took it out then asked "What's wrong with that CD? It has all your favorite songs on it."
"Tommy made it for me," I said softly.
My mom made a knowing face and turned on regular radio.
I could feel Trent's eyes on me but I kept looking out of the side window. I didn't want to talk about Tommy right now, I just wanted to sit and listen to music without it reminding me of him. I stayed silent as the trees turned into building and we got to the mall.
When we pulled into the parking lot and we all got out of the car. As I was walking towards the mall, Trent grabbed my wrist, making me stop.
I looked at him, confused. "What is it?"
"Who is Tommy?"
"Me."
We turned to see a guy with blond hair and ice blue eyes looking at us. I felt my a stab in my chest and he smirked recognizing me. I felt my face fall and my mouth gape as our eyes met.
"Hey, beautiful," Tommy said to me. "Long time no see."
My heart was pounding in my chest and I felt tears stinging the backs of my eyes. Before they spilled over I ran. I didn't know where I would go but I didn't care. I just wanted to be as far from him as possible.
(Trent's P.O.V.)
I saw the way this guy looked at Ellie, and I saw the way she looked at him. I could see the hurt and anger in her eyes. Just when it looked like she was going to cry she ran. I went to go after her but the guy's laugh stopped me.
"Same old Ella," He said with a sneer.
I glared at him. "You know nothing about her."
"I know her very, very well actually." He smirked. "I know exactly what makes her tick and squirm."
I clenched my fists at my sides.
"Oh she didn't tell you, did she?" he asked with a smirk.
I didn't want to respond but my curiosity got the best of me."Tell me what?"
"That I was her first," He stated. "But I certainly wasn't her last. Talk about a human mattress." He laughed and it was the most twisted sound in the world.
I grabbed his shirt and made sure he could see the truth and anger in my eyes. "Don't you dare talk about her like that ever again," I growled. I punched him in the face but held back so I didn't break his nose. I let him fall to the ground and stood over him. "I don't ever want to see you around here again. And if I hear of you talking about Ellie at all, I will find you and you will regret ever laying eyes on her." He got up and I watched him run away then I ran in the same direction as Ellie.
(Ellie's P.O.V.)
I ended up in the bad part of town and I couldn't remember how to get back. Memories of Tommy flooded my mind like a tsunami. His hands, his lips, his body. I ran behind a dumpster and hurled. I couldn't stop the tears and sobs as they wracked my body. I left the ally and walked around. I saw a park and sat at one of the picnic tables. I tried not to think about Tommy or get sick again.
I closed my eyes and laid my head on the table. Not long after I feel hands on my shoulders and I jump a little. I tried to get out of their grip but they wrapped their arms around me and held me tight.
"It's okay, Ellie. I've got you," a soothing voice said. I relax a little when I realized it was Trent. "Why are you so jumpy?"
I shook my head and got up. I lost my balance and fell into Trent's arms.
"I've got you," He whispered as he held me. "I'll protect you."
"Can we go back to the mall?" I asked, smiling weakly up at him.
"Yes." He smiled down at me. "And don't worry. That guy won't be there."
I looked up at him and he smiled down at me. "Thank you," I whispered.
He just smiled and took my hand. He lead me back to the mall looking around as if he were looking for something or someone. I stayed as close to Trent as I could be. I was terrified that Tommy would still be here or that we would run into him. The thought of him made my stomach churn. We walked around and Trent bought us some ice cream. I ate mine slowly fearing that I might get sick again.
"You keep thinking about him, don't you?" Trent asked with concern and venom in his voice.
I nod and shudder a bit.
Trent put his arm around me protectively. "What happened between you two?"
"I'm sure he probably told you," I said rolling my eyes. "He feels really proud of himself." I couldn't stop the hatred I felt toward Tommy from tainting my words. "He told everyone at school about it."
"So you really slept with him?" I could hear the hurt in his voice and my jaw dropped.
"Is that what he told you?" I scoffed and shook my head. "He's such a jerk!"
Trent stopped walking and made me face him. He grabbed my upper arms and I could tell he was trying not to hurt me. "What happened," he said between gritted teeth.
I looked away from him, my face burning. He gripped my arms a little tighter but still not hurting me.
Trent pulled me closer to him so I was looking right in his eyes. "What. Happened?" He emphasized each word.
I sighed in defeat. "I'll tell you when we get back to the house."
"Fine," he said. "But I want to know everything."
"Okay, Trent."
