Chapter 16

I couldn't stop thinking what Alexis told me today. How many girls did Hayley exactly date? I needed to know. I waited for Hayley to fall asleep to do my investigation. I poke Hayley's cheek to make sure she was in a deep sleep. "Hayley." Poke. "Hayley." I poke again. Hayley shifts to the left, covering her face with her arm.

I got out of bed and walked to Hayley's nightstand where her phone was charging. As I walked to Hayley's side of the bed, I hit my pinky toe on the footboard of the bed. "Ow! Fuck!" I cover my mouth to sure I don't wake Hayley up with my shouting. Although she'll need a lot more than my shouting to wake up. "Fuck. I hope I didn't break it." I whisper to myself as I hold my pinky toe in pain.

I grabbed Hayley's phone from the nightstand. I turned her phone on and smiled to see our prom photo as her lock screen. I put the passcode, 2639, and the phone unlocked. Not knowing where to look first, I decided to look at her texts. I don't know, maybe I'll find something.

I scroll down her texts and read every single one of them. Mostly the ones from people I haven't heard about.

Amanda: Hey Hayley! I heard you're back in L.A. Wanna meet up like old times? ;)

Hayley: Amanda, I have a girlfriend.

Amanda: I know, but that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun ;)

Hayley: No. Go find somebody else to fuck around.

Amanda: Arghhhh fine! I don't need you anyways.

I don't know who Amanda is, but she needs to respect other peoples relationships. I scroll through the texts and continue reading.

"Babe?" I heard Hayley's voice and I froze. "What are doing up?" she said as she yawned.

"Ummm... Checking my phone." I said not knowing if she believed it or not.

"Oh." She nodded. "Wait, why aren't you in bed?"

"Ummm..."

She reached to her nightstand. "Where's my phone?" she said in a sleepy tone. She looks at me. "Do you have my phone?"

"Ok yes." I couldn't lie to her anymore.

"Why?"

I hand her the phone and go back to bed. "Cause, Alexis said things that made me question and so I checked your phone."

"What did she tell you?"

"She said how you were before me and that you didn't care about relationships."

"Babe, don't listen to Alexis. She's the master of lying and manipulation. Trust me I know from experience."

"How many girls have you been with?" The question came out of my mouth like a volcano. Hayley didn't expect me to ask that question since I told her once I didn't care about her past relationships.

Hayley sighed as she sat up. "I been with four girls before you." She started. "I only had one serious relationship, while the other three we're just hook ups, including Alexis."

I nodded. "Alright."

She turned my head to her direction and looked at me deeply into my eyes. "Do you trust me?"

"Yes, of course."

"Then don't believe anything Alexis tells you. She's jealous of our relationship and will say anything to break us up." Rethinking what Alexis told me at the birthday party. She did say she was jealous. I nodded. "I love you with all my heart. You know that right?"

"Yeah." I nodded. "I love you with all my heart too." I look down and play with my fingers. "I just get really insecure and I don't wanna get hurt again. Like it happened with Kelly."

Hayley grabbed my hand. "Babe, I am not Kelly. I will never hurt you physically or emotionally." She kissed my hand and I gave her a half smile. 

"I know you'll never hurt me like Kelly did." I brush my hair behind my ears. "I just see all those girls looking at you with lust and worry that they'll take you away from me."

She grabbed my face gently with both of her hands and looked right at me. "No one will take me away from you. I will never leave you." She kissed my lips softly. "You're the rose to my thorns. As cheesy as it sounds, I wouldn't know what to do without you." I smiled and kissed her softly. She smiled back. "I am so in love with you, it's insane."

I giggled. "I am very in love with you too." We kissed again but this time with a little more passion. After our little make out section, we cuddled and went back to sleep.
