Haru kept on running. He didn't know where he was going, but he didn't care. Far away from Sousuke. Far away from Makoto. Far away from his past. Haru, after what felt like hours, finally stopped to catch his breath.

Where am I? Haru looked around. He wasn't familiar of this part of the city. Was he still at Iwami? Haru realized that he stood on a pathway next to the highway. He cursed at himself for not bringing his phone. Haru jogged towards the clump of trees that stood next to the highway.

Haru sat down, panting, watching the cars drive to and fro. The memories the held in his heart were heavy, not like Haru wanted to remember them. Rin, Haru finally got attached to that sore loser. Right when he felt at home, Rin died. It was almost too much to handle.

Haru didn't know what he was going to do now. He watched the sun rise, illuminating the road.

That's right, I should keep running. Haru got up and continued to run. He planned to run towards the next exit, perhaps finding a store that he could stop at. There should be a water fountain, or even better, free food. Haru tried his best to stay positive.

He didn't go that far down the next exit when a pink car pulled out of the road. A familiar face got out of the car, and began approaching Haru.

"Nanese!" Kisumi waved.

Haru, who was still panting, debated whether or not to have contact with Kisumi. They weren't in good terms. In middle school, Kisumi stole Makoto away from Haru. Not like Haru liked Makoto at the time, but he did value their friendship. A few months ago, Haru got into another fight with Kisumi, and ended up using force.

"Haruka, is something wrong?" Kisumi questioned, seeing the fear in Haru's eyes.

Haru shook his head.

"I heard what happened with you and Makoto,"  Kisumi smiled.

Who told you?

"I tried to talk to Makoto, but he just shut me off." Kisumi complained. "He told me about what happened at the swim club, though."

Something about Kisumi seemed a bit off, but Haru couldn't put his finger on it.

"He's so creepy," Kisumi shivered. "So I drove around the town to find you. I thought you might need help."

What were the chances that Kisumi was going to drive around town to find and help me? Haru thought.  But he brushed off his suspicions. Haru needed all the help he can get, even if that meant getting help from Kisumi.

"You look thirsty," Kisumi observed, as the two got in the car. "I have some water."

Haru thanked Kisumi with a nod. He drank the water at lightening speed.

"You should go to sleep," Kisumi offered. "From the looks of it, you've been running for a while. You ran pretty far from Iwami, and my house is over there so..."

Haru nodded, falling into deep, deep slumber.

--

Haru opened his eyes. Darkness. He tried to scream for help. All that came out was a muffled yelp. He tried to move his hands, but he couldn't move them. He couldn't move his legs either. Was he... tied up?

I knew I couldn't trust Kisumi.

He heard a familiar laugh. No.. It couldn't be.

"Here he is," Haru could hear the trunk open.

"Perfect," Makoto laughed.

Let me go! Haru wanted to scream. But he had this feeling. He couldn't describe it. It was like, he was actually glad to hear his beloved Makoto's voice again.

"How much?" Makoto asked.

"What do you mean?" Kisumi responded.

"How much do I have to pay you?"

"Nothing. I'd do anything for you."

"How can I trust you?"

"I've always loved you. I understand that you'll never love me back. But that doesn't mean I won't stop trying to make you happy."

Back off Makoto. Haru wanted to say. Why am I so attached to that stupid killer?

"Don't worry, you'll be safe," Makoto whispered into Haru's ear, sending chills down his spine.

The trunk closed, and Haru could feel the car driving off. It was awhile. Haru didn't know how long, he couldn't think. All he could think about was that he was finally with Makoto.

Why do I still love him?
