I had decided to wear some steel blue breeches with a blue and white striped show shirt. I paired it with my tall boots and a black belt that had my initials on the buckle . I also had my lucky diamond earrings in. Sawyer was waiting for me out in the hall while I changed, like the gentleman he is. A knock came to my door and I knew it was time.
"They're here." Sawyer said through the closed door. I took a deep breath and wiped my sweaty hands on my legs. After opening the door, Sawyer's eyes raked up and down my body. "I don't know anyone else who looks as good as you in riding clothes." He stated. A blush flooded my cheeks and I walked to him and pecked his lips.
"First of all I doubt that. Second of all, I'm really nervous."
"First of all, It's one hundred percent true. Second of all, you have no reason to be nervous. All these owners know you can ride, all this is, is you choosing which horse is best for you. This is literally every Equestrians dream!"
"How? If I do choose one, then don't do well, everyone will be like, 'Oh she can only ride her horse. She sucks.' How is this a dream come true?" I questioned pulling him into a tighter hug.
"You are literally having the best horses in the state handed to you and you get to choose which one you like the best, and you get to show it like it's your own! That is amazing. And the owners don't care what you place, they'll just be glad that you chose to ride their horse! You are an amazing rider, when will you accept that and trust me about it?" Sawyer asked rubbing my back as tears came to my eyes.
"I don't know, but here's one thing I do know." I leaned up so my lips were just barely touching his. "I love you." I whispered before kissing him. When we broke the kiss, Sawyer had the largest grin on his face.
"I love you too. However, I don't love that you said it first. I was going to say it, but then all this stuff with Lindsey and-" I cut him off with my lips.
"You talk too much sometimes. Do you know that?" I questioned leading him downstairs so we could head to the barn.
"That's what my mom always tells me. But I only do it when I'm nervous."
"Why be nervous? You've got a wonderful girlfriend right here who loves you so very much."
"I don't know, I just...Love you so stinkin' much and I want you to always know that." He said smiling down at me and giving me one last kiss.
We finally made it to the barn. It sure didn't look like our barn because there were about seven trailers parked with these large, beautiful horses tied to them. "Oh gosh. Sawyer! I get to ride these horses!" I gushed as I went up to a dark bay who was tacked up and braided.
"You lucky butt, you get to ride these awesome horses, and you have an insanely hot boyfriend. No fair." He joked. I ignored his comment and walked around all the trailers until I found Kari.
"Codie! Perfect timing, I was just about to call the house. I would like you to meet Adam Buckley. I called him about our little predicament, and he stepped in and helped find us the best horses in the state. Just for you." Kari said gesturing to the man next to her.
"Hello Sir." I said politely. He tipped his hat to me then walked off.
"Well, there are a couple of horses getting lunged and warmed up in the indoor if you'd like to go check them out, we will start riding in about ten minutes. I've got to fill some paper work out first."
"Wait Kari. I don't feel right to be riding these fancy horses. Like isn't it unfair if I have a $100,000 hunter and i'm competing with a girl who only has a $10,000 hunter? I can't do that."
