"Lindsey! Hurry up. Your're already late." I hear the head trainer shout from down the aisle way. I was currently cleaning stalls, and surprisingly I feel 98X better than I did yesterday. I pulled the wheel barrow backwards and just as I was setting it down someone bumped into me and I fell backwards into the pile of manure. I looked up and saw Lindsey smirking down at me.

"Watch where you're going stable hand." She spat at me. She so purposely pushed me in. We were so close as friends when we were little, and her parents even signed her up to start riding with me. We showed for years together, then when she started losing and I started winning she got mad. She told her parents and they ended up buying her the best of everything and anything. There was no way I was winning again. Then when my mom started getting sick I dropped out of showing completely, sold my horses, and took over the barn chores so we didn't have to pay any ranch hands so we could pay the medical bills. Mom died almost five years ago due to cancer. She was such a selfless woman that she would keep saying she was fine and helping others instead of taking care of her self.

Only a few people know that I still ride, but they have only seen training rides where the majority of the time I am falling. I save my good rides for when there is no one at the barn, and it's usually done out in my spot in the forest. My dad built me a jump course out there when I was eight. My mom and I used to go out there all the time, then when she died I would only ride out there. That is up until about a year ago when I started training horses in our arena. That's when people see me ride. I don't do very much, mostly just care for them and break them enough to walk, trot, and canter. After that their owners take them to a bigger well known trainer. Lindsey has only ever seen me fall off. Same with the majority of people who know I still ride.

I finished cleaning myself off from the manure accident and returned to the house. "Codie! Codie! Codie! Codie! Guess what!" my dad shouted to me from his office.

"What?" I asked almost scared.

"We have a new horse coming in, and staying for good."

"Yay. Another stall to clean and another stuck up rich kid to deal with." I sighed sitting down in the kitchen.

"NO, you didn't let me finish. This owner was a friend of your mothers and he wants you to ride their horse, show him, and take care of him like he's your own. All expenses covered." My jaw dropped and a grin slowly appeared on my face. This is the start of something big.
