ONE WEEK LATER

"You ready for the show tomorrow?" I asked Sawyer as we layed in the bed of his truck looking up at all the stars.

"Of course. Are you?" He asked back taking my hand in his and playing with my fingers.

"I don't know. Kari says we are, but I don't feel like I am."

"Sounds to me like you're nervous."

"You're right. I'm nervous, I'm not ready, I'm scared. I don't know how I'm going to be able to ride well tomorrow, and there's an even bigger weight on my shoulders. Lindsey and her new team are going to be there. I know this sounds childish and self centered. But what if she tries to sabotage my rounds, or hurts Zeus or King. Or worse, she would find a way to get you and T disqualified, then we wouldn't be eligible to compete." I rambled on.

"Codie. Take a breath, and look at me alright?" Sawyer said sitting up with me. He placed his hands on my cheeks which forced me to look right into his eyes. "There is no way I will let that happen. You have done so much to get here, and now is your time to shine. Show Lindsey we don't need her. Show her that you're better. Because you know what? I know you're better than her. It took her three tries to make it onto the team. It took you one, and on a horse you'd been riding for less than a week."

I wiped a tear that rolled down my cheek. I don't know why I was crying, but I guess it was due to me being so stressed out this last week, and Sawyer is always here, helping me with everything. I leaned in and kissed him. I kiss that boy long and hard. He wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me over to straddle his lap. My hands found their way to his hair. Knocking his cowboy hat off the rest of the way. He pulled back and rested his forehead against mine.

"I love you." He whispered. My eyes shot open and looked right into his. He had a smile on his face.

"Oh Sawyer...I love you too!" I said kissing him again. This time with more force causing him to fall onto his back. My legs were still on both sides of his body and my hands were squishing his cheeks causing his lips to pucker up.

After our intense make out session, we separated and caught our breath, never breaking eye contact. I could feel my hot red face and the unmistakable smile stretching from ear to ear. Sawyer sat up with our chests pressed against each others. He broke eye contact for a mere second and then instantly returned it. He smiled even bigger and placed his hat on top of my head.

"I love you so much Codie Gauser." He said pulling me up onto my feet.

"I love you more Sawyer Armstrong."

"Impossible." He whispered. He helped me out of the bed of his truck and helped me into the passenger seat of his truck. He makes me feel so many things, Love and happiness the most though.

He drove me back to my house and we exchanged goodnight kisses, and then I was off to bed, resting up for the day ahead of me tomorrow.

We pulled up to the show grounds at seven AM. Sadly I wasn't able to get any shut eye during the entire drive. I was too nervous. Sawyer however was out the second we left the property. His head had been resting on my shoulder the entire two hour drive with his arms wrapped tightly around my waist.

When we finally stopped to unload the trailer, I gently shook Sawyer awake. I laughed at him when he just nuzzled his head into my neck some more and tightened his grip on me.

"C'mon Sawyer. Wake up, we've got to unload the trailer." Nothing. I sighed and lifted his head off my shoulder slightly so I could reach his lips. I pecked him several times before he started to react. He kissed me back until he suddenly pulled my head to his and full on made out with me. We pulled back instantly when someone banged on the window.
