TWO WEEKS LATER

"Hey Emily, where have you been? You haven't been out to ride in quite some time." I said hugging the small girl.

"I know, and I feel awful abandoning Hobbs for this long."

"What have you been doing instead? It's summer so I know you have oodles of time on your hands." I asked her as she started walking around.

"I've been hanging out with Alicyn." Emily stated with a smile on her face.

"That's so nice, but you know what I always say. The horse-"

"Always comes first. I know I know, it won't happen again." She finished.

"Alright, now let's get going with this lesson, I have a date with your big brother when we're done." Emily's face lit up with the news and instantly pushed her pony into a working trot.

I just got out of the shower and was waiting for Sawyer to call me back. I heard the faint ring of my phone and I rushed to my bed to answer it.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hey Babe, I'll be by to pick you up at 6:00." Sawyer said with a deep husky voice that got my toes tingling.

"Okay, but how should I dress?"

"Something cute, well actually everything you wear is cute. So something comfortable, but something you're okay going out in public in. Oh and wear your hair down."

"Why?" I questioned.

"Because I love the way you look with your hair down, especially when the window is rolled down and your hair is flying all over the place." I could hear the smile on his face as he talked. It made me feel even more giddy knowing he felt that way when he spoke about me.

"OKay, see you in an hour and a half!" I yelled into the phone and hung up before Sawyer could say anything else.

Making my way into the bathroom, I stopped and looked at the picture of me and mom at my first horse show. I smiled a sad smile and continued into the bathroom.

I blow dried my currently wet hair, and then took my flat iron and straightened any pieces that still needed it. Afterwards, I put some makeup on my face. Not too much, just enough to look pretty. I only put mascara on my eyes, nothing else. Once I finished in the bathroom, I danced my way to my closet. I found a cute black t-shirt and a long white cardigan. I paired that with my favorite cut offs.

I checked the time once I was done, and I still had twenty minutes until Sawyer would be here to pick me up. I put my black converse on and headed downstairs. I put a jacket and a few other things in a large over the shoulder purse. With my phone in hand, I sat in the living room watching Cupcake Wars until Sawyer arrived.

"Will you tell me what we're doing now?" I begged for the millionth time since Sawyer and I left my house.

"Are you hungry? I'm hungry. Let's go get some food." He said ignoring my question. I huffed and slouched down into my seat. "C'mon. I don't want to ruin the surprise, just trust me." He said grabbing my hand and kissing the back of it. I looked out the window and smiled, not wanting him to know that I gave in.

We pulled off the freeway, making me sit up. We pulled into the In-n-Out parking lot.

"Yes! Thank you Sawyer. You're the best. I love this place." I said throwing my arms around him as he opened the car door for me.

"Only the best for those I love."

We walked inside and ordered our food. Sawyer knew exactly what I wanted because I get the same thing every time. Double cheeseburger combo and a medium strawberry shake. This just made my never ending smile expand.

"So, what's up?" I asked snaking on my french fries.

"What do you mean?"

"Like why did you bring me on this special date. You've caved on me asking every other time. Why won't you tell me what we're doing?"

"This date is special because I have special news." I grinned and clapped my hands.

"Yay! What is it?"

"And this is why I wasn't telling you anything. I have a special time to tell you, so be patient."

"UGH! Fine. What's on the agenda after this?" I asked deciding to move on from the subject.

"Well, as soon as we are done eating, then you can find out." He replied with a smirk.

"You're impossible, you know that?" He laughed at my frustrated face.

When we finished eating, we were yet again driving on the freeway. We sang along to every song on the radio and I nearly died laughing as Sawyer tried to imitate Miley Cyrus. Twenty minutes later we pulled into a small dirt patch. I couldn't see why we were here until Sawyer actually parked his truck. In front of us was a large white screen with the word 'WELCOME' displayed across it.

"A drive in movie? You didn't" I asked astonished.

"Oh but I did, and we're the only ones here. No one to yell at us when I do this." He said before pulling my head to connect our lips. The smile on my face spread wider as he moved his hands down to my waist and my hands went into his hair. I love this man so much.

"I love you, so much. I could scream it at the top of my lungs and never be embarrassed." I said with the permanent smile on my face.

"I'm glad you feel that way. Are you ready to hear my announcement?" I nodded my head quickly.

Sawyer scooted into the middle by me and held my hands. He took a deep breath before saying, "I'm going to college. And I'm moving out."

I was frozen. What do I say, Of course I'm happy for him, but I don't want him to leave.

"Say something Codie." He said, his smile faltering.

"I don't know what to say."

"Well what are you feeling then?"

"Well...I'm super happy for you, but I also don't want you to leave me. I don't want to break up due to the distance, I want to make it work, but I'll miss you." I said finally realizing that the mood has changed drastically.

"Well, there's more news. I'm only moving into an apartment in town, and I'm going to the state university so it's not very far away." My smile re-appeared.

"Any other news?"

"Well, I have a question now. I've thought it through several times, and I've even talked to your dad about it and he fully supports my decision. How would you like to move in with me? And before you say anything, I have a cousin that could come take your place for chores if you'd like, and while i'm in class you could be at the barn doing your normal routine and then you get to come home to me." He said with a nervous smile.

I thought about his offer for a second. He seemed to have everything planned out.

"Codes-" I cut him off by holding my finger up. He was silent and when I turned to fully face him he let out a breath of relief. The giant smile on my face gave away my answer. "I love you Codie, now let's watch this movie then I can show you my apartment." Sawyer said, hopping out of the truck. He opened my door and helped me out and onto the hood of his truck.

He pulled himself up and placed a few pillows behind us and draped a blanket across our bodies as we cuddled up and enjoyed watching Happy Gilmore, his all time favorite movie. I smiled every time he would repeat a quote perfectly.
