Hey guys! If you weren't aware, I'm also working on a story called 'There's No Such Thing As a Perfect Girl'. You should go check it out!

Tris's POV

"Alright! So today we're going to be testing your bravery." I shout "When I was an initiate, other would throw knives right above our heads until we learn not to flinch!"

"Do we get some type of protective gear?" An Initiate, Mira, asks.

"Now you do." Four days coming up and putting his arm on my back.

"Now pair up, you choose your partner this time." I say.

Everybody shuffles around for s couple of minutes before everybody's in place.

"Alright so before-"

"Umm excuse me?" I hear Alex call.

I turn around to see that she doesn't have a partner.

"I don't have a partner." They say.

"I can tell. Four do you-"

"No, I want you to be my partner." They smile.

"Are you sure?" I ask.

"Definitely." They smile.

Marlene's POV

Uriah has invited me over to have some lunch with him. Actually, I offered because I was too scared to stay in my apartment for more than an hour.

Lately, I've just been staying over Uriah's place. I almost practically live there.

When I knock on his door, Instead of seeing Uriah, I see another girl. She's an initiate, I recognize her from one of the cameras in the camera room Uriah and I always go to.

"Hi." She calmly says.

"Hey, is Uriah in?" I ask.

"Yeah, but he didn't tell me we were having guests. What's your name" She smiles.

"Marlene. and We?" I ask skeptically.

"Uriah!, " She calls, "Some girl name Marlene is here to see you!"

Within seconds, Uriah arrives at the door. He's dressed in Jeans, a black T-shirt, and regular sneakers. His hair is nicely brushed and he smells amazing.

"Hey Marlene," He says, " This is my friend Makayla. She was just leaving. " He says giving her a tight smile.

She rolls her eyes and storms past me, bumping my shoulders.

"Well she's definitely kind." I sarcastically say, walking into his apartment.

"She's nice when you get to know her."

"Are you guys like a thing?" I ask.

"Me?Her? Noooooo no no no no no no." He says looking away from me.

"Come on, you don't have to lie to me." I playfully smirk.

"Alright, well all I can say is that it's very complicated. But, we're just friends right now." He admits.

"Right now." I say forming quotation marks in the air.

He fake rolls his eyes at me, takes my hands, and leads me into the kitchen.

"So this is what I made." He said pointing at a Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta.

"It looks good." I say, "I didn't even know you could cook."

"Well there's a lot you don't know about me" He winks, causing me to smile.

He sets to food at the little dining table and pulls the chair out for me. I gladly sit into the chair and watch him sit across from me.

"So, How are you feeling?" He asks.

"The usual, paranoid, scared out of my mind, guilty." I respond picking at my food.

"Marlene, things will get better. That's a promise." He says, reaching for my hand across the table.

I instantly, feel ashamed and move my hands away from his, causing him to frown a bit. Great, now he thinks I don't like him. Which I don't by the way, I just didn't want him feeling bad.

"Um, how about you?" I ask clearing my throat.

"Honestly, I don't really know what I feel. I've been feeling very empty ever since my brother left. But you're here now, it's kind of better." He says.

I feel bad for him, honestly. Uriah is such a great person with such a horrible life. I want to be there for him but I don't know how. I don't understand what he possibly might be going through to be honest.

"I'm happy I can be here for you. I'm also happy that you're also here for me... you know, to help make sure I'm okay."

Before he could even say something, we hear a glass in his room shatter causing us to instantly jump up.

-----

Tris's POV.

"Tris why would you do that?" Four almost screams.

I'm honestly asking myself the same exact question. At this very moment, I am looking at the body of Alex laying down on the floor with a knife on their right shoulder in shock. I quickly zap out of it and run over to them.

They're severely wincing in pain and there's a pool of blood dripping down their arm.

"I-I don't even-" I begin.

"We have to get them to the hospital." Four cuts me off.

Almost instantly, three male dauntless initiates run over to us and picks Alex up. Four follows them behind.

"Four! I didn't mean-"

He looks back at me, with a big disappointing look in his eyes.

"We'll talk about this later Tris." He says before running off.

I turn around to see the other initiates with intimidated looks in their eyes. My heart instantly sinks.

This sucks. Not because an Initiate is injured, but because I practically didn't cause it.

Alright, this is what happened:

As I was shooting the knives at Alex, I could see her swooning over Four. It bothered me, yes, but that wasn't what disturbed me. What bothered me was that Alex looked like she had some type of sharp object in her hand.

"Hey! what's that?" I ask, walking up to them.

They smirked at me and took the knife and stabbed themselves on the shoulder.
