Four's POV.
I get ready to go check on Alex in the hospital. I see Tris walk out of the bedroom and head into the bathroom. I hear the sink run for about 3-4 minutes before she gets out and comes over to the kitchen.
"Good morning." I say.
"Hey."
She looks in the fridge and pulls out uncooked eggs, bacon and a carton of milk.
"You hungry?" She asks.
"Not really, I'm actually heading out." I tell her.
"Kk." She says nonchalantly.
Maybe it was a mistake to take this break. She seems to be taking it so well. She seems to be taking it too well actually. She hasn't even asked me where I'm going.
"Actually, I am feeling kind of hungry. Plus, you make the best eggs and bacon." I say.
"Alright, just give me fifteen minutes." She says, not even looking up at me.
I sit down, wondering what is going on with Tris. The fifteen minutes pass and my eggs and bacon are set on the table.
"How did you sleep?" I ask, like I did every morning for the past three days during our break.
"Fine." She replies, like she did every morning for the past three days during our break.
I sigh.
"So do you have any plans today?" I ask her.
"Yeah."
"Where are you going?"
"Why are you asking?"
"Because I'm interested."
"You shouldn't be, we're not together anymore." She says, nonchalantly.
I take her hand and intertwine it with mine which gives me her undivided attention.
"Look, just because we're on a temporary break doesn't mean that I don't care about you or love you." I explain. "I just really think we need a break to think things through."
"I agree. Don't be late for wherever you're going." She says, walking back into our bedroom.
I have never been in a state of sincere confusion. She's not suppose to be taking this so lightly. It's as if she just doesn't care.
Without even touching the bacon, I get up and leave the apartment. I make my way over to the hospital where I spot Alex.
She gives me a warm smile and I smile back.
"Hey Four. I didn't think you'd come see me." She said.
"Well it's the least I could do after my girlfriend almost killed you." I respond. "So how are you doing?"
"I'm doing better. Soon enough I'll be ready to train again. I hope I didn't miss a lot of practice." She says in a worried tone.
"Don't worry, you don't need extra practice. You're really good."
Before she could respond, her phone buzzes.
"Can you get that for me?" She asks.
"Yeah don't worry." I say.
I pick the phone up from the chair. Before I hand it to her, there's a message reading 'Now that the first task has been done. It's time for the second. Meet me tomorrow at 6 for more information -A'
My heart instantly sinks. I can almost swear my eyes are popping out of my eyeballs. I quickly look away from the phone before Alex notices I saw the message and hand it to her.
"Here you go." I smile.
"Thank you."
Once she sees the message, she looks up at me.
"Did you see the text message?" She asks, suspiciously.
By this time, I'm looking down at my phone, texting everyone about an emergency meeting and apologizing to Tris for not believing her.
"What?" I ask, pretending as if I didn't hear her question.
"Text message. Did you you read it?" She asks again, this time more sternly.
"Oh no, I don't like to be in people's business. Your texts are not my concern. No offense." I say.
"None taken. So--"
"Hey look, Tris texted me saying that she needed my help with something and that it was an emergency. But I'll come visit tomorrow early in the morning."
"Oh. Okay sure."
