Chapter 11 - Percy

I drummed on the steering wheel of Liam's car nervously as we neared our destination. I glanced over at him, the scene silvered my heart. The tear stains delicately illuminated his tribulate state, he looked just plain sad.

No. He looks... broken.

I never even thought about his past relationships until now. Everyone knew about Danielle Peazer, heck I even thought they were going to be together forever! I knew very well how much they meant to each other. I guess that's why I was so confused when they decided to split.

I don't want to be some kind of... I don't know. A substitute Danielle. That's what I don't want to become. All I'll ever want to do is mend him, whatever the hell he went through, I want to be a part of it. I don't care if he has to put the majority of his pain of me, I'd do anything for him.

"Liam..." I whispered as we pulled into the sandy isle of the beach.

He looked at me, his eyes watering when he met my gaze. I parked the car and yanked the key out of the ignition.

"Liam, tell me what happened with... her." I said, whispering the very last part for his sake.

Liam looked at me as if I held every single one of his secrets in the palm of my hand before he spoke very clearly,

"I loved her... I really did, but I couldn't give her the attention she deserved. Danielle was - is - fantastic, and she deserved someone better than me, even she knew that. I think having it be a..." He paused breifly before he composed himself, "A mutual breakup, made it so much harder."

I stared at him. Whoa.

Without even thinking, I undid my seat belt, wrapped my arms around his neck and slid into his lap.

"I'm sorry." Was all I could possibly offer him,

"I'm so sorry."

I buried my head in his chest and allowed him to begin crying into my shoulder. Even though I'd never been in a relationship, I knew how hard it was to lose someone who meant the world to you. It's the most excruciating pain you will ever encounter.

"Percy, I want you to know something." Liam murmured into my ear gently when he began calming down.

"Yes?"

"I don't want you to start thinking that you're some kind of rebound... I meant everything I've ever said to you before, and I want us to be together." He said confidently, nodding as if reassuring not only me but himself that his words were truthful.

Subconsciously, I pulled away before pinning my forehead to his and pressing our lips together.

The sweet, nectarous kiss was blissful, almost too quick. However, even a few seconds is worth nearly a million.

"So do I."

"Are you sure about this?" Liam asked nervously as he surveyed the wavy, churning waters of the lake ahead. I'd discovered it last time Kat and I were here, just sightseeing when my car had broken down, figures right? I had to abandon it in hopes of finding a mechanic, or a city, or anything really. That's when I found this place.

An almost deserted beach with a small wooden cottage. I was awestruck. Who would've left such a beautiful place? I had wondered as I explored the wonderful kingdom of sand and sun. I remember it was blindingly hot out that day, and I had my bikini on under my shorts and top, why not take a swim?
