Chapter 13: Brendan and Autumn

I looked over at Kellin.

"Psst. Kellin." I whispered.

He looked over at me.

"What babe?"

"My water just broke."

His face went as white as a ghost. He tapped his dad.

"Dad. We need to take her to the hospital." he said nervously.

"What's wrong Kellin?"  He asked.

"Her water just broke."

Kellin’s dad starred at me.

“Quit playing Kellin.” He said.

“Dad I’m serious! We need to get her outta here now!”

Just then Kellin’s dad stood up.

Kellin and his dad helped me up and took me out to Kellin's truck. Elizabeth came running after us.

"What's going on?!" she asked.

"Her water broke! We need to get her to the hospital asap!" said Kellin's dad.

"What about everyone in there?!" yelled Elizabeth.

"Stall them!"

Elizabeth ran back inside.

“Uhm ladies and gentlemen. May I have your attention please?” said Elizabeth to the crowd. “There has been a slight delay in this wedding  party. My stepson’s girlfriend is having her baby. Please help yourself to the food and enjoy the band! The ceremony should continue shortly.”

It was an intense car ride. Kellin sat in the back with me to try to comfort me.

"You ok baby?" asked Kellin.

"Can you believe it's happening? Already?" I said to him.

Kellin's dad was speeding. I was suprised we didn't get pulled over. Kellin had a tight grip on my hand. I could tell he was kinda nervous. He was shaking and his face was white. As soon as we got to the hospital Kellin and his dad rushed me inside. There I was taken into a room. Kellin's dad sat out in the waiting room and Kellin stayed right by my side. 12 hours of labor. It was pure torcher. The pain was unbearable! Then it was finally time. After 3 pushes out came Brendan. Then 3 more pushes out came Autumn. I couldn't believe it. I had two beautiful babies. One boy and one girl. I could see Kellin smiling as the doctors handed him both Brendan and Autumn. As they cleaned me up and cleaned the babies up we were sent back to our room. There I got to hold both Autumn and Brendan. Autumn had my face and Brendan had Kellin's. These were my children. I created them. I couldn't help but smile when I thought of that. I went from a terrible life to an amazing life with two new babies and the most amazing boyfriend ever.

I stayed in the hospital for a week. Finally it was time to take the babies home. Kellin's dad picked me up but Kellin wasn't with him. As we arrived home there was a big sign in the yard that read "Welcome home Brendan and Autumn!" As we walked in the house Elizabeth came up and hugged me. She was so happy to see her grandchildren. She had some people over to see the babies. Must have been aunts and uncles of Kellin. I was very surprised that I didn’t see Kellin’s mom there. As I walked into the kitchen there, at the table, was my mom and stepdad. They were talking to Kellin’s dad! Then they saw me with Autumn and Brendan. My mom got up from the table and stood in front of me. She looked at me for a while then finally spoke.

“So, This is Autumn and Brendan.” She said.

“Mom I’m staying here. That house isn’t safe for us!”

“I never said I was taking you back! You’re staying here. Obviously it’s a better environment for the babies and that’s all I want for them. Just please. Come visit me with them?”

“I will.”

My stepdad didn’t speak a word to me. As he got up from the table to leave, Kellin’s dad stood next to me. He didn’t want to take any chances. After all of this I noticed I haven’t seen Kellin yet.

“Elizabeth” I said.

“Yes dear?”

“Where’s Kellin?”

She looked at me with a grin.

“Oh you know he’s out and about. You know how boys are. Don’t you think it’s time we take the babies up to their new room? I bet there are super tired.”

As we walked up the stairs to take the kids to their rooms there was a note at the top of the stairs. It read "Follow the roses." There on the ground was a trail of roses leading to the babies' room. As I opened the door there was Kellin dressed in his favorite band tee, ripped skinnies, and converse kneeling on the ground. As I walked up to him he pulled out a small box. In that box was a ring. He grabbed my hand, looked me in the eyes, smiled and said, "Elyssa. Will you marry me?"

I started to cry tears of joy.

“Yes!”
