Chapter 5: In Memory

"So have you made up your mind, Yang," I ask. She turned her head over to look me in the Eye. "This will let me fight," She asks. I nod. She moves over to the edge of the bed and stands up. "No, I will not have another daughter run off," Taiyang spoke from the door. "This is my choice, I want to help them, I want to fight," Yang nearly shouts. "No, I will not let you waste your life," he counters. "Mr. Xiao Long, if I may, your Daughter is going to find a way to get back to the fight, with this you can be rest assured that she'll survive," I tell him. Taiyang mumbles something under his breath. "Fine," he pulls me aside. "But, if I find out that she died for a worthless cause, It's your Hide that I'll skin," I nod. Yang walks with me to Airship I had arrived in. "So where are we going," Yang asks as soon as the Airship takes off. "I call it Mother Base, though it's official name is Demeter Sea Fort," I answer. The ride to my private army is about Three hours. We land and I help Yang off of the airship. "This place is huge," Yang says with amusement. "This is the Command platform, I've built platforms in each cardinal Direction, to the South is R&D, to the north is the Hangar, where a new bred of Weapon is being built, to the east are the Combat platforms, where we train recruits, to the West is the Mess halls and living Quarters," I tell her. I escort her all the way to R&D. "Alright these people will build you a new arm, tell them the specifics and it'll be built," I tell her. "What are yours made of," Yang asks. "CNT muscle fiber, basic for what I do," I tell her. I take the long hike back to my Office. I get into my office and see Piper sitting in my chair. "What are you doing here," I ask. "Qrow told me where you were, you didn't think I'd stay on the side lines now did you," she says. I shake my head and laugh, a honest laugh that made Piper look startled. I walk over to her and hug her. A soldier walks in and salutes. I salute back, "sir, what should we do with Yang Xiao Long," he asks. "Is her arm made," I ask. The soldier nods. "Then bring her back to the Command center, and gather everyone else too," I say. I walk out with my Wife and wait with Yang for everyone to gather. "What's with all these people," Yang asks. "Soldiers, Warriors, Mercenaries, this is the Mighty Yang Xiao Long, you all know who I am," I say for everyone to here. "You are gathered here to watch this too ladies fight," I say. I walk over to Piper and whisper, "don't wound her," she nods. "Whose this," Yang asks. "My wife," I say.
The fight between Piper and Yang was even. Every advance Yang made was counter by Piper, both would land a blow at the same time. Piper uses a six dagger fighting technique, each dagger is Stun knife, she often leaves the the blade buried deep, the knive's stun function are all controlled by one master knife, she presses the button on the master knife which will fry the target. But as this is non-lethal Piper is using a Moi tai fighting style. I break up the fight before either of them get injured seriously. I take them both to me office. "Show me your new arm, over here," I tell Yang. She sits down and holds put her arm. "Basic, functional, it'll do," I tell her. "Now there's a safehouse in haven, I want you to go there, help them," I tell Yang. "I'll be better help here," she pleads. I sit down at my desk. "You think this is a place for a kid, I don't want you to get hurt, you're to valuable an asset," I say as I rub my face. Yang gets up and starts glowing. "Okay, if you can kill me, you can stay," I tell her. I stand up and pull out 'Clockwork'. "What," she steps back. "If you don't have the will to kill, then you will die," I tell her. She looks downcast and walks out the door. I watch from my office as Yang bord the airship.
A few weeks later I get a job offer for part of security detail for The Schnee Dust Company, guarding a few VIPs. I bord the airship and head for Schnee HQ. It was a three hour ride. I am dressed in a kevlar suit with a muscle suit underneath. Weapon holsters are holding dual submachine guns, and 'Clockwork'. I walk up to the front door of the Schnee Company and put on my sunglasses. Mr. Schnee walks out with Weiss and Winter. "Follow behind us," Mr. Schnee directs. I walk behind Winter and keep watching for any sign of assassins. They walk to a restaurant. "Winter, you and Erebus stand guard," Mr. Schnee orders. "I'm Winter Schnee, pleasure to meet your acquaintance," she holds out a hand. "We've meet before, Ms. Schnee," I say. "When and where," she asks. I pull off my sunglasses, "Mistral, 5 years ago, you were sent there to arrest an assassin going by the moniker of 'Guilty Rose', he wore a suit with a black Grimm Mask, his weapon of choice was a spear/sniper," I say. I pull out a black Grimm mask and put it on. "But you never caught him, the only thing you got was a gold banded ring, inscribed in it was a phrase in old Vale,
'Pour celui qui tient mon âme'," I continue. Winter steps back and readies her weapon. "If you couldn't beat Qrow, you can't beat me," I say. Winter rushes forward and lunges. I jump back, pull out 'Clockwork', and swing it at Winter. She dodges it, I swing upward at her, she moves to the side, I slam the blade down, she dodges it and the blade gets stuck into the ground. I leave it there and pull out my submachine guns. I point at Winter and pull the triggers. Each gun fires a bullet every 0.1 seconds, the clips hold 100 rounds. Winter blocks or dodges each bullet while rushing up to me. I drop the guns and stand in my CQC stance. Weiss swings, I dodge, grab her wrist, pull her forward and punch her stomach. She doubles over and I knee her in the chest. I lift her by the waist, putting a hand on her neck for safety, flip her around and slam her onto the ground, leaving a Schnee sized crater. "What blue Blazes is going on, Erebus you better have a good explanation for this," Mr. Schnee shouts at me, with Weiss behind him. I remain silent as Winter picks herself up off the ground. "I doubted his skill sir and wanted to test him, its my fault," Winter lies as she dusts herself off. "It better not happen again," Her father warned in a calm voice. "I owe you one," I whisper into Winter's ear. "You're lucky you're handsome under the mask," she whispers back. "I'm married," I whisper. I hear Winter Sigh in disappointment. I follow behind the others as we reach the next stop. A large house, the Schnee home. "Am I dismissed, Sir," I ask Schnee. "No, I think it best for you to guard us for the rest of the week, I'm paying for each day," He says. I take a bow and start scouting the perimeter. I set up a Ground Base tent on the flattop roof of the Schnee house. I do one last sweep of the perimeter before going to sleep. I wake up Two hours later. I check the time, 2:30 am. I step out of my tent and look at the stars. I hear footsteps and turn to see Winter. "Can't sleep," she asks. "Yeah, its different from Vale, and even though this is the middle of the city, there's no noise," I say. "Yeah I've found that weird too," Winter SATs as she walks to the railing. "There's a war going on, and my Father doesn't want to even consider it, why are you here," she asks. I sigh, "Because I'm getting paid, no other reason, well, not one you'd understand," I say. "Try me," she taunts. "Weiss, she was one of my students at Beacon, before I went into a Coma," I chuckle nervously. "You taught at Beacon," Winter says dumbfounded. "It was that or be sent to prison," I tell winter the half truth. She sighs. Winter walks back inside. I go back to sleep.

I walk down the street with a box of chocolates for Piper, its Valentine's day. I walk into the motel room we rented for the weekend. I hear the shower running and decide to but the chocolates on the bed. I wait for Piper to get out of the shower. I hear the shower stop and stand quietly outside the door. Piper opens it and jumps back in fright, loosing the towel loosely draped around her chest. Piper covers the private spots and giggles. I wrap my arms around her and hug her tight. She pushes me to the bed and pushes me down onto it. She mount my waist. I suddenly feel a sharp pain in my chest. I see a knife sticking out of my chest. Piper picked up the knife and stabbed me again. And again. And again. She stabbed me until my chest was mince meat. She then stamped her self and dropped to the floor.

I wake up violently, with one of my weapons in my hand. I'm breathing heavily but I hear Weiss apologize fiercely. "I didn't mean to barge in but you almost missed breakfast," she continues. She was holding a plate of eggs, bacon, sausage, and a glass of milk. "I thought you would like to eat by yourself, so I brought you this," she says. "Thank you Weiss, that's very kind of you," I tell her. She sets the plate and glass down on the table I had set up. I wait until she leaves to eat my Food. It was a filling meal. I walk down to Mr. Schnee's office. "Upon further inspection, I have decided you are not needed, you are dismissed, you will be played you fee," he say. I walk out and head for the Airport.
