RWBY: Erebus.

Chapter 10: Autumn.

I wiped the steam of of the bathroom mirror, my hair was short, my eyes saphire, and my face clean shaven. My rub my face and wash it. I dry off and put some clothes on. I step through the door and decide to head out for diner.
I walk into a Dinner and sit down at a booth. I flirt with a Waitress to pass the time, until a certain huntsman walked in and sat across from me. "Hey, Qrow." I said, the man let out a half smile. He nods his head in the direction of the door. Just then a woman walked through the door. She was fairly dark, her clothes were brown her hair the same color. She walks over and sits next to Qrow. "Is this the Assassin, Qrow?" I noticed how awkward she felt in such a notorious place. "Yes, he's trustworthy, you don't have to worry about someone bribing him." Qrow's words seemed to ease this woman. I hold out my hand to the lady. She takes it weakly and shakes. "My name is Erebus." She seemed to take interest of my name. "How'd you get the name?" She had asked a very personal question, but I felt inclined to tell her. "I took the name for myself after my mother was killed by a Beowolf, after I witnessed it kill my mother I preceded to tear it limb from limb." I tell her the heroic rendition of the truth, it serves to put fear in my enemies. "My name is Autumn, nice to meet you." She finally smiled. I noticed another lady walk through the door, it Was Piper my fiancé. She spots me and walks over with her normal stride. She sits in my lap and I wrap my arms around her. "Erebus, who are these people?" She asked never turning away from them. I could tell she was giving them the particular 'look' she was known for, because Qrow looked like he was seeing an incarnation of the devil itself, strangely Autumn was uneffected. "A friend and a Client, though what are you doing here I thought you had work today." I ask her and she sighs. "Turns out my boss had a standing contract worth 500,000 Lien." She pulled out a large envelope of Lien from her shirt. "You two seem quite 'Familar'." Autumn asked, Qrow gave her a look of 'Oh shit don't ask'. Piper got up and pulled out one of her many knives. "You must be the Client, what do you need from him huh?" Autumn was about to ask but I put a hand on Piper's shoulder. She sat back down in my lap, then remembered something. "Oh hello Qrow, I didn't recognize you, you aren't drunk." Qrow lightens up. "Hello Piper." They trade smiles. Piper leaves and things outside turn dark as a storm starts. "So you want me to travel all over Remnant, protecting this one lady?" I ask Qrow. He nods. I groan. "It might not seem like it to you but I've got my own type of Family here, I can't just up and leave." I tell them. Qrow throws down an empty check. I write a real specific number. Qrow looks at it and chuckles. I get up and Autumn walks out with me. Qrow stays there as usual. I go to my workshop near the red light district. I open the door for Autumn. "There's only the couch and one blanket, I need to work on something here before we leave so sleep while you can, the couch is up stairs and don't question the love marks on it. She gives me a look of disgust but goes up stairs anyway. I look at my project. It was a motorcycle, it was three fourths complete. I just need to adjust the Dust intake and tighten up the wheels. I do so which takes me an hour. I head up stairs and see Autumn asleep on the couch, she was curled up in a ball. I was feeling drowsy myself. I walk over to the phone I kept in the shop and called my house. Piper picked up and I told her about the new job I have, and that I'll be over in the shop. I hang up and pull out a recliner from a closet and try to sleep in that.
I wake up very early in the Morning, I take a shower and wake up my 'Client'. "Get up, we need to get going." My words were harsh but effective. Autumn woke up and tried to stand up. I shake my head, I go over and make a fresh pot of coffee. While we waited on the coffee I see Autumn stretching. I shrug, I jump up to the rafters and hang by my legs. I start a small workout until I hear the coffee pot ding. I jump down and pour both of us a cup of coffee. "Thank you." Autumn sounded tired. I shake my head.
After we finished our coffee Autumn said to follow her. She lead outside and to a strange part of town. I decided to put on my mask before leaving the workshop. We went to the edge of Vale. She finds a Horse and climbs on. She starts down a road out of town. I followed close behind we made it quite far despite that we were walking slowly. "Where are you from, Erebus, you don't seem like your from Vale." Autumn asked. "Listen up, You are not my friend, Qrow told me to protect you that's what I'm gonna do." I told her. "How'd you meet Qrow, the two off you are quite far in terms of profession." Autumn asked another question. "We met at a bar, and ended up in the same Motel room when we woke up." I tell the thr short version. She nods her head. She stops and looks at the dirt road ahead of her she gets down and kneels. I activate my semblance. I saw two people, Mercury was hiding behind some bushes, Emerald was standing in the middle of the road readying to attack. I deactivate my semblance and pull out Bloody Thorn. I rush at Emerald, who seemed startled that I was here. I tackle her to the ground which alerted Autumn. I put a foot to Emerald's throat. Mercury flies out of thr bush and tries to kick me. I catch his foot and slam him down onto Emerald. I motion for Autumn to escape. She gets on her horse and rides off. I stay here and deal with Emerald and Mercury. "Why are you two here?" I shout at them. "Cinder was a plan." Mercury said as he got up. I rush past them and try to catch up with Autumn. She was floating in the air with frozen leaves flying around her. I see Cinder with a smug grin on her face. I prepare for the worst and rush at Cinder. When I get close she smiles, but that smile fades away as soon as I thrust my spear into her chest. The blow knocked her back onto the ground. She frowns and takes her bow and fires a few rounds at me. I activate my semblance and increase the time dilation. I grab the arrows out of the air and throw them to the ground. I deactivated my semblance. The speed of the arrows returned to them and they flew onto the ground. Cinder turns her bow into two swords. She rushes and attacks I dodge each swing until Mercury kicked my back and One of Cinder's blades struck my shoulder and cut through my aura. The blades didn't go too deep, just deep enough take me faint from bloodloss.
I wake up in a hospital bed, Qrow was sitting next to me and drinking a bottle of beer. "Who were the attackers." He asked the question. "I didn't see their faces." I lied to Qrow. He scoffs and leaves. I return home and see a letter from Cinder. it was titled contract. I pick it up and open it. It detailed a contract. Blake Belladonna, she was a Faunus, she is a traitor to the White Fang. I sigh and start getting ready.
I go through the motions of putting on my outfit. Thermal leggings, heat concealing leggings, suit pants, next is thermal shirt, heat concealing shirt, Suit shirt, weapon harness, kevlar suit jacket, thermal and heat concealing gloves, after that the arm band with the Blood soaked rose on it, then after a thoughtful moment, a ponytail holder for my blonde lower neck length hair, leaving two strips of hair by the side of my face, and then the deep black Grimm mask I became fond of wearing. It was joke when I first bought it, but now it's a symbol of my progress and devotion. My cat ears twitched at a slight thud behind my room's door. I stand still, and moved to a shadowed corner. A rather old man walked into the room, carrying a small dust propellant gun. I walked silently behind the old man and knocked him out, though I somehow failed to sense the bigger guy behind me before he knocked me out.
