During school, your friends were walking over to go confess to Michael that they liked him, you thought this was going to be funny so you decided to go with them. They really didn't care, but they just wanted to see who was prettier and could get more guys. You could see him over by a classroom with Calum and you walked behind the two of your friends. As they approached Michael he smiled, and Calum walked away.
Your friend smiled confidently, "So, I like you" she gestured towards your other friend, "and so does she."
Michael raised an eyebrow and looked at you, "What about you?"
You laughed awkwardly, "Uh, I'm just here to watch."
Michael turned back to your friends and smiled uncomfortably, "Uh...well I don't really know either of you very well, so, yeah."
Both of them turned to walk away and Michael turned to you. He frowned, "And I honestly just don't think you're my type." You stood there confused, "I wasn't asking you out. I literally just said that." He looked around, unsure out what to say next. This was probably one of the most awkward situations you had ever been in. After a few seconds of silence you backed away and went back to your friends.Michael seemed much more harsh when he said he didn't like you. You decided not to dwell on it. You went to class anyway and just forgot everything that happened. But Michael sat down next to you.
He cleared his throat, "Can I ask you a question?
You gave him a skeptical look, "I guess."
Michael looked down and fiddled with his hair, "Why don't you like me?"
"I mean - I don't really know you."
He sighed, "Right. Okay, that was it."
He got up to walk away, and you went back to your work. But Michael stopped and turned around, "What are the chances that I can get to know you sometime?" You looked at him, and you noticed that he really was cute, and he seemed nice. You shrugged and beamed a smile at him, "Are you free tomorrow during lunch?" He had a grin plastered on his face, "Yeah, I'll meet you by the tables." He turned to walk away again, happy as a clam. You could've sworn when he was walking away you could hear him quietly whisper, "nailed it Clifford, nailed it."
You walked over to the tables Tuesday during lunch, and sure enough, Michael was sitting there waiting. You sat down across from him and put your backpack down next to you. He smiled, "I didn't think you'd actually come." You giggled and pulled out a brown lunch bag, "I didn't think you'd actually come to school." Michael shrugged and reached into his bag to grab his lunch. You noticed this and reached over to stop him. He glanced over and saw that you had brought lunch for the both of them. "I brought chicken noodle soup, I figured it'd be good since it's a bit cold inside the cafeteria" you chirped. Michael smiled and continued to pull out two sandwiches in tinfoil, "Well, I brought cheese toasties, so we can be toasty too."
The two of you sat there eating your shared lunches, and making a bit of small talk. He glanced over at you at one point and noticed that you had spilled a bit of soup on your shirt.
He giggled, "Hey uh, y/n?"
"Yeah?"
"You have some soup on the front of your shirt."
You glanced down and started to dab the stain in a panic, "I have a presentation during my next class!"
Michael, trying to help, started to dab it with a napkin too. Just then, a teacher passed by and cleared his throat, "Mr.Clifford, Ms.y/l/n, to the office, now." You and Michael quickly packed your lunches back into your bag, and made you way to the office, escorted by a security guard. You weren't sure what you were in trouble for, but you weren't about to argue with an administrator.
Lunch ended and you were both still waiting in the office. The entire next class period went by, and you were still waiting. You had to be silent in the office, so both of you were just sitting there awkwardly sneaking glances at each other. When the principal told the two of you to go into her office, you both walked in and sat down slowly.
She glanced up from her computer and sighed, "I understand you're teenagers, but can we leave the flirting to after school hours?"
You looked at her confused, "Not to be rude, but we were just having lunch."
She held up a pink paper, "Students are being written up for inappropriate contact. Mr.Clifford was seen touching the chest of Ms.y/l/n."
Michael snickered, "I wasn't touching her chest, I mean I was touching her chest, but not in that way, but I can see how you would-"
You put your hand on Michael's to signal for him to stop talking, "What Michael is saying, is that I got soup on my shirt, and I had a presentation today and didn't want to look messy, so he was helping me to get the stain out."
You unzipped the jacket Michael had let you borrow and showed the stain. Michael was looking too, but you got the feeling that the stain wasn't his focus. The principal glanced at the two of you and smiled, "Okay, you're not in trouble this time, just try not to spill your food next time, okay?"
You and Michael walked out of the office together, school was going to be out in five minutes, so you just decided to make your way to the parking lot. You looked over at Michael, "so, that was an interesting first date." He clasped your hand and grinned, "Any chance you want a second one?"
