Love is in the air

Ben finished the last word of his book and shut it. He put it on the floor. At the moment he was in his cupboard. He had to hide from the twins, and he always seemed to be reading in the most weird spots. He took his reading glasses off and rubbed them.

It felt as if he hadn't seen his family a week. When he read, he got so lost in the book. He had met up with Reece once, which consisted of the two of them playing video games, he was glad he missed the family game of bullshit.
Poor Nic. He thought.

He'd been trying to distract himself with reading. To not think about her.
Evie.
Caroline's new friend, shined to him.
He thought she was beautiful. He liked how she said whatever was on her mind.
The only problem was. She was dating Jackson.
He couldn't understand it. Why would someone as bright as her want to date someone as dim as him? He continually thought.
He had met guys like Jackson before, the kind that just date the sexiest girls they can find, hook up with them and then dump them.

Ben looked over at the cupboard doors, surprised.
As he slowly opened them, hoping to god it wasn't the twins doing some kind of prank on him. He saw a big pair of green eyes staring at him.
It was Will.
He breathed a breath of relief.

"Hey, buddy." He pet the cats head.
Will meowed a hello at him.

"Well don't I get a hello too?" A voice said above him.

He jumped.

Evie was looking down at him with a smirk on her face.

"Er...hello?" He asked confused.

"What are you doing here?"

"Oh, I was just looking for Caroline, but I can't find her. She must be with Nic again." She rolled her eyes.

"Hmm." He said awkwardly.

There was a silence.

"Why are you in your cupboard?" She tilted her head.

He stood up awkwardly. "I was um...I was just reading." He said the last part really fast.

Evie raised her eyebrows. "Huh?"

"Reading. I was just reading." He picked up his book and threw it on his bed.

"Ohh." She giggled.
He smiled sheepishly.

Evie looked down at Will who was now circling her. "I think he's hungry."

"How did he even get out of Caroline's room?"

"Oh, sorry my bad. I went in there looking for her." Evie picked him up and cradled him like a baby.

"Don't tell Caroline, or she might kill you." He started walking out of the room.

"Why?" He filled him still cradling Will.

"Haven't you seen the terrible beast that lurks these grounds?" He smirked.

She looked at him confused and then said "Ah yes the old beast Roxy." She smiled. "Yes very dangerous."

They went into Caroline's room and Ben went and filled up Will's food bowel on the window sill.

Will jumped out of Evie's hands and ran to the bowel.
They stood in silence watching him.

"So, did you finish that book?" Asked Evie.

"Scorch?" She nodded. "Yeah, it was great." He rubbed his neck.

"So are you going to read the next one now?" She asked.

"Yeah."

"Okay, tell me what happens, once you've finished." She smirked.

He raised his eyebrows. "I'm not
spoiling you!"
