Today is the day of a new beginning. I graduated in June and I am starting my first ever job as an art teacher at the university. Art has always been something I was attracted by. My mum pushed me to study medicine, as I had some facilities in science, but I never really loved it. She was arguing that art isn't a domain where you have a lot of job opportunities, that the future is in the hands of science and technology. I have to admit I was considering it. But after my dad's death during my senior year, after the grief, the sadness, the nights crying in the arms of my best friends, I decided I would only do something I love of my life. My mom was so depressed, she didn't even argued with me anymore, she was completely out of it.
Today is the day of a new beginning because I moved in in my very own appartement. I'm done with the dorms, the shared showers and the canteen. I finally have my own bathroom, my kitchen, and most of all, my private bedroom. Don't get me wrong, I loved the dorms, they were cool. The atmosphere was nice, people weren't that bad, but you kind of lack privacy in such places.
My new place isn't very big, it's just a small loft with the bedroom on the second floor. I already met my neighbors who are very nice. But I am mostly excited for tonight's party.
I invited all my friends, all the people I met along the way. But the most important is that I'm going to see all my friends from high school. The ones I cried on when my dad died : Raven, Jasper, Monty, Lincoln and the Blakes : Octavia and Bellamy, although I've already seen Bellamy since then as he helped me move. We were a very close group at school, and even though we were not all the same age, like Lincoln and Bellamy who are older or Octavia younger, we still managed to maintain our friendship through the years. I haven't seen them the whole summer as I was doing an internship with a major art historian in London, but we're all back in Chicago now, and we're going to enjoy our time together.

The party is about to start. People are going to show up any minute. If I know them right Jasper and Monty are gonna be here early. With a lot of booze. They were known for distilling their own alcohol during high school. They used to call it Moonshine at that time, because they were preparing it at night. And Octavia will be late. Not because she will be getting ready for too long. She's not that kind of girl, she's more of a badass. She'll be late because she has always too many things to do. Between the studies, her job as a waitress and her martial art classes. She never really have time for herself.
The door bell rang. I quickly put my heels back on and rushed to the door.
- Boys? My boys? That's how I'm used to call them. I yelled as I was opening the door.
- Your boy, singular.
- Bellamy! I smiled grabbing him for a hug. I didn't expect you to be the first to show up.
- I wanted to see your appartement before getting messed up by the party. He answered.
- But you've seen it already...
- I know but I wanted to see how you've organized it, the decors, your furnitures, and stuff.
- Like you're interested by that kind of thing. I questioned.
- Of course I am. He smirked.
He put the bottles he brought in the fridge and got himself comfy on the sofa. I sat down next to my best friend and we chatted for what seems to be an eternity before the other ones showed up.
