A few minutes later, Alec walks into the weaponry as I'm outing the inanimate rune on a dummy.
"Hey," he says while grabbing a bow off the wall.
I take a deep breath and look up at him. "Hey."
"You okay?"
I nod. "Yeah, I just need to tell you something."
"Go ahead."
I walk over to a wall and sit against it. "I used to have this other boyfriend, his name was Jake. He wrecked my whole world. I need you to promise me you won't do that to me, because I can't live through that again."
"I wouldn't ever hurt you."
"That's what Jake told me. And I believed him too."
"What'd he end up doing?"
"He neglected to tell me that he got bit by a werewolf, and it ended with my family being killed by vampires."
"I'm not gonna do that."
"My heart is very fragile, Alec. The littlest thing can cause it to fall apart again."
"I won't hurt you."
"I hope not. I'm taking a very big risk, letting you in. Allowing myself to have feelings for you. Don't make me regret it."
"I won't, I promise."
I smile at him slightly. "Now, let's do some training."
He nods and helps me stand up.
