Surprise!

"Please?" I pleaded my brother.

"No, I'm not telling 'ya."

"Why?"

" 'Cause you have to wait."

"How long?"

"Ariana, shut the fuck up." Two-Bit said while swerving his beat up truck.

"Fine then, Keith." I huffed.

He immediately hit the brakes. "Say my name one more time, midget, and I will make you walk."

I kept quiet until he stopped at the school. I silently cheered since my brother didn't give me information on the 'surprise' anyways. I kissed my brother on the cheek and hugged him tightly.

"Thank you, Two-Bit!" I said.

"Next time Regina is sick your walking."

"Mean!"

I pushed him away from me and dusted of my Mickey Mouse t-shirt. As an act of revenge, after I opened the door he pushed me out of the truck. Sadly, I ended up with blood pouring out of cuts from my hands. Really? First I gotten a scratch on my face, then a cut on my throat, and now cuts on my hands? People these days are being cold-hearted towards me.

I dusted off my hands and walked inside the school. There was people looking at me, but this time it was different. My hands are scratched up- like a cat scratched them with its claws -and Regina isn't by my side. I walked as fast as I can to the bathroom so I can clean up my hand injuries.

I ran my left bandaged hand through my curly blonde hair as I walked into Health. The few people that were in the class broke into whispers. As I sat down, I fixed my high-waisted shorts. I sighed as the scenario with my brother played in my head.

''Why did he do it?' I thought to myself. 'Was that a message saying that he is tired of covering me up?"

I heard somebody take a seat next to me. I turned to see Steve. He had a worried expression on his face.

"What happened kid?" He asked looking at both of my bandaged hands.

"I fell and scraped my hands." I lied.

He nodded as Mr. Mitchel came into the class and started teaching.

I was preparing the dinner table like my mom asked me to, while my brother was over the Curtis' having fun. I learned that the surprise was from mom not Two- and she told me she'll reveal it as soon as dinner's ready. The time went by fast, because by the time everything was done, Two-Bit was home.

We both sat in silence while mom was getting the surprise ready. Next thing you know, mom came back with a man. Not just any man, our father. The one that made my childhood memories living hell. I couldn't even face him anymore, so as soon as they sat down, I excused myself, and left the house.

I went over to Regina's house and knocked the door. I saw her open the door.

"Ariana? What happened?"

"My dad came back Regina." I said as a hot tear fell.

"C'mon in, we'll talk 'bout it in the morning, boo."

"Fine.." I said as I came in.

Regina closed the door. "But, what happened to your hands?"

"Two-Bit pushed me out the truck."

"He might've mistaken his strength hun."

"I don't believe so."

"Why?"

"Because when you think you know people, they surprise you." I concluded walking away to the guest room.
