Chapter 20

Natsu strolled casually along the streets of Fiore, the GMG had ended two nights previously, Fairy Tail placing second, astonishing everyone, after Lucy's guild. However annoyed he was about it was momentarily forgotten as he had just spent a great night with a beautiful girl. Sadly, it wasn't Lucy. Rounding a corner, he came to a sudden halt as he saw a figure in a black cloak standing a few feet away from him.

He noticed the bulge around the chest area and the brown boots that were worn; definitely a woman. Maybe a past conquest who missed him too much after a spectacular night? It wasn't his fault that his talents had be shared!

Smirking he spoke, "So, you looking for me?"

"Drop that smirk, you bastard. How the hell do you know about Dracen?"

Instantly, Natsu froze. This voice! Lucy. He had been extremely worried about her over the past few days, after he had sent her unintentionally to hospital, he hadn't meant to upset her, just...

Unnerve her a bit, perhaps?

"Lucy, I'm so pleased to see you again, although I'd prefer a more direct view of your body and face."

A tick appeared on her forehead, as she dropped the cloak in a pool of black velvet surrounding her. "Is this better, you stupid pervert?! Now don't avoid the question, tell me what you know!"

"What I know? I know that that man was a fool for love, he loved a princess who bore the ancient curse, and didn't even realise it! That curse was merely a ploy for power, decreasing her life force in return for her emotions, which if heightened caused catastrophes! That is why the planet became so deprived, and after he lost her he just attempted to replace her with her less Earthland counterpart."

"So, you do know? You speak of him as a fool, yet he managed to deceive this entire world into believing he was our saviour through trickery and deceit and caused the biggest war this planet has ever seen. He condoned so many innocent men, and forced Lagos to bloody his hands with him and the girl he loved, banished from his home for 400 years."

"Lucy, baby, you speak of him as if he is a hero, the man was a fool who made others foolish."

At his words, Lucy seethed, for if he knew about Dracen, then he also knew that that time was approaching. The fulfilment of the promise had to be upheld, it was merely a matter of staying in control. So when she finally did lose control, God save them all.

"Natsu, how do you even know this?" She asked, wearily.

"I believe that all Earthland citizens should at least know the history of their godly counterparts, don't you?" He said, revealing a smile of sharp teeth, predatory in the dark night.

Lucy collapsed on her bed, her mind swarming from the events of e past few days, as well as the information she had just received. Following her fainting, Lisanna continued on in her stead and they won all of the battles that they partook in with ease, although she was slightly disappointed to find that she did not go up against Natsu, which would have given her a good excuse to beat him up legally. Damn stupid laws.

Now, they were the strongest guild in Fiore, and many people were now looking at them nervously, asthma probably believed that only monsters could beat Fairy Tail. To match their new title and new found world (the prize of thirty million jewels) the guild now had been flooded by requests, which they at the current moment had no desire to do.
They had much more important things to do, especially after what Wendy had sighted the other night.

Sighing, she recalled the remainder of the conversation that she had with Natsu earlier.

"C-counterparts, you couldn't mean...? But you couldn't be, Dracen died 400 years ago!"

"Lucy, surely you remember the promise, especially when you are the princess reincarnated. I mean, it does rather affect your whole life."

"Shut up! How do you even know that? I know what it means, do you think I enjoy the knowledge that O could destroy the entire world on a whim?"

"How do I know? Why Lucy, I thought that you were smarter than that. After Lagos found out of Dracen's deception, he deceived the man into believing him an ally, but sadly fell in love with the Earthly princess in the process, as well as     beginning to care greatly for Dracen. However, after Dracen discovered that the Earthly princess was also his godly princess, and planning to take her home with him, he killed him! The foolish man killed his friend as he was jealous."

"You know that's not all there was to the story, you idiot. Dracen planned to cause the largest countries in the world to go to together, his reasoning being that his princess would appear amidst the destruction!  Yes, he had a tragic past, and his eyes may have been noble in the eyes of some, but he was a mad man who threatened our existence in hopes of saving a dying civilisation! One for another, he was -"

"Don't say it, Lucy. We both know that just before his death he proclaimed that 'I will one day return, for in you fools hopes for false peace you have ignored the fact that the greedy kings joined me in my plight, and that the curse shall follow us for generations, as the princess bears the golden blood the beast so desires'."

"So what? Probably a bluff, just as yours was when you attempted to get rid of me three years ago!"

At this, Natsu's face dropped at being reminded of his betrayal, a sad look flashing through his eyes.

"I did that to protect you, you were my most important person, you still are. A powerful guild was threatening us, and they may have wanted to harm you four to get to us. I promise I never meant to hurt you, I could never without great reason. Because, Luce, as how our former selves loved one another, I love you."

Lucy was speechless, Natsu... Loved her? He had betrayed her, and she was never truly angry at him, only hurt, and wanting revenge for how he had hurt her. Did that men that she loved him, as her obsession of getting revenge caused her to become the person she was today?

But... Wait! Former selves, did that mean...?

As if sensing her thoughts, Natsu spoke, with a soft grin she had not seen in years, "Yeah, Luce, I'm Dracen... And you just happen to be my princess."
