Chapter 18: The History of Dracen

Anger coursed through his entire being, red hot magma flowing freely from his palms as it greedily engulfed all surrounding nature, completely ridding the world of his princess' final moments. To him, the world had simply become black, white, red and gold.

Red was the colour of the blood he would shed.

Black and white were the thinly disguised intentions of mortals.

Gold was the colour of the curse, the colour of her demise.

How incredibly asinine of him to assume, to take upon himself the worries of so many others, and never once try to find his princess' reasoning behind her country's gradual downfall. She was too prideful, too hopeful and caring to suddenly abandon her people. But she did, because she decided to suffer alone, and not request his help, merely because she thought he couldn't help.

He would have tried though, so damn hard.

The curse had been told of from the first settlers of their planet, gold the divine colour of the conqueror, but it would ultimately conquer the conqeror from the inside whilst they theoretically conquered the outside world. The prophesied curse-bearer would have the power of absorption, able to steal others power for their own in return for the others life force and for their own soul energy to be slightly diminished.

Soul energy was vital, the very beginning and end of their magic, as it was itself the essence of magic. Those who were blessed with large amounts would become the ones to look after and watch over their creations on Earthland, but those with limited soul energy would be forced to submit to the strong. Cruel, but simply the way it was. The princess, herself, had boundless amounts of soul energy, but that was only extended by her power of the curse, but even as it multiplied, it eventually completely vanished due to her life force being sucked away in exchange for power.

Moving forward to the Divine Garden, where the former princess had so often liked to play, he looked upon the moving animation that was the Earthland that the royal family had taken care  of so many years before. The princess had died, and along with the the last of the royal line, leaving no one capable enough to look after their counterpart existences who resided on Earthland.

Instantly, shock overtook Dracen as he realised what that meant. One as powerful as the princess would surely have a counterpart on Earth, one with her level of magic as well, even if undiscovered.

All he had to do though was contact her.

Isabelle Shonen, the notorious pirate.

His sister.

----------------------------

Dracen looked disdainfully around the hovel that his 'dearest' sister had proclaimed the finest ship in the entire galaxy. Rats scampered aimlessly around the wooden deck, the sails slightly tattered but someone had obviously attempted to repair them with patches of cheap cloth. The sound of the bumbling laugh of drunkards was as evident as the reek of fish and the mouldy biscuits that littered the tables.

He ignored the sneers of his sisters crew and moved towards the door which had the word captain hastily scrawled across it. He braced himself as he prepared his hand to knock.

He didn't get that far.

Suddenly the door flew open, a whirl of red hair whipping him in his face as he stumbled back from the impact of the door.

"Listen up, you useless lot! I want this ship thoroughly cleaned! My idiotic brother just informed me that he's coming to this ship, and he squeals whenever germs are concerned." She cackled, her blue eyes sparkling with the promise of jest.

Dracen crossed his arms and glared at his sister as she continued her rant of his flaws, not seeming to notice the increasingly angry man behind her, thick-skinned as she was.  In the midst of her speech, she must have finally noticed the wary looks that were directed behind her, trailing off as her shocked blue eyes met furious onyx ones.

"Oh hey, big bro, how's life?" All traces of arrogance had faded from her as she stood meekly awaiting her brothers wrath.

Anger flashed in his eyes momentarily as the ship rocked, reminding him of the rocky hold he still had on his deceased princess. "Not going to be here much longer if you don't follow me."

"Where are we going?" she asked curiously.

"Earthland."

----------------------------

Lucy could still recall the tale, apparently about two weeks after that encounter they had reached Earthland, where Dracen had pretended to be an escaped prisoner of war, quickly gaining the sympathy and later sympathy of future allies. He established himself into the world of royals through causing the princess to fall in love with him after saving the former captain of the guard (who he later framed for murder by using his sister and telling her to 'hold her breath' - they buried her alive after he got him into an awkward situation that made it look like the formerly prestigious captain was drowning her but he quickly dug her out, and she was fine anyway due to her regenerative powers) in a 'chance' meeting after he was confronted with dangling off a cliff.

Needless to say, the man was so extremely thankful that he did not even begin to notice his comrades misdoings, nor his potential guilt as he reassured himself it was for a world whose time was running out.

But then his plan had almost come crashing down.

The princess became engaged to the prince of a neighbouring country, who also happened to be the most powerful, known as Alvarez back then. Up until that point, Dracen had been bribing greedy kings to join him on his own personal quest to bring down the Alvarez Enpire, as he assumed through war and strife that his princess would emerge.

Lagos quickly endeared himself to even Dracen, but Lagos fell in love with the princess he was engaged to in the process, nevertheless playing the part of a good friend by trying to bring the two he loved the most together.

Then Dracen did the worst thing he could possibly do.

He assumed.

He assumed that Lagos would help him bring his own future empire down from the inside, for the sake of being a good friend and a few idly placed bribes. Lagos consequently followed his example, playing his part all too well as he brought it down from the inside, but just not in the way that Dracen had hoped.

He brought his friend down instead.

Hiya!

Sorry it took so long, but I was aware that I hadn't updated in a while, so I did this, although I'm not that happy with it, I think the writings kinda stupid and there are now plot holes, which I will now have to go back and fix at some point. By the way, this is not edited, so please only point out mistakes once and just enjoy the rest. I don't own Fairy Tail, just my own characters in this and this plot line, all other  rights go to Hiro Mashima! Please vote, comment, share and follow!

Thanks!

Love,

Haze-chan
