Chapter 31

The fire from the burning castle illuminated us

Sam starred at his brother, the tears had long dried by now and the only thing left was a phycotic smile

...And Sonic, I could see the pain plastered on his face the person he would take a bullet for was behind the trigger. Ready to shoot at any given moment.

"S...Sam- Ah- ah!" he lifted me up by my hair then grabed me by my waist pulling me closer to him

Sonic didn't flintch, his eyes never moving away fron Sam's. Any movement could set Sam off

He began moving back and I blindy followed
What was I suppose to do launch myself at him and try to pretend to be the heroine i'm not?

"Put her down." Sonic said

A phrase so simple and short, but it was enough to tense him up, his grip tightend around me and the gun

"heh... hehe" Sam chuckles "you're so selfish... you know that, brother?!"

"Sam...-"

"Well... You know what? Take it. TAKE IT ALL... but you won't take her"

"Amy has nothing to do with this-"

"SHE HAS. EVERYTHING. TO DO WITH THIS... She- She's the one I love and you're trying to take her away..."

Sonic's movements were slow and careful, so careful not even Sam noticed him moving closer

what do I do?!
I can't just stand here waiting to be saved

But I cant just make a run for it...
I have to wait... Wait...

"Amy?!" Rouge's voice comes from far away "Where are you?!!"

Sam lowers his guard looking at the direction her voice came from

"Agh!" he yelps

I stepped on his foot as hard as I could and started stumbling towards Sonic

"AMY WAIT!!" Sonic screams out trying to catch me

I look back, Sam pointed hia gun towarda Sonic again

No...I won't loose you

BANG

I can feel my whole body shaking
My arms stretched out, shielsing him
I look down and see my now bloody torn clothes

"A...Amy" I can sense fear in his voice

I tense at his touch but then settle down and fall

I don't regret doing this
or at least...
I tell myself I don't.
Seeing his tears fall down his cheeks makes me want to...
but he's safe, and that's all that matters now
