7- An angel's eyes
I had two hours to fill and no idea how to fill them. Mum was asleep, Georgia wasn't picking up her phone and apart from Gabe I don't really have any more friends. So I decided to go for a walk.
I walked through the park, enjoying the cool air on my skin. I went down the running track, which is basically just a dirt path through a section of trees. My breath came out in clouds of heat.
It was really quiet, peaceful, I was the only one out here. Then I felt it.
Someone was following me.
My senses began to flare, they had become much more sensitive over the past few weeks. An angel was following me, out here, in the middle of the forest. And they were angry.
I stopped and span around, if this came to a fight I needed a weapon, I wasn't strong enough to take down an angel powerful enough to set off my senses like that. I spotted a large branch and scrambled to pick it up.
"I know you're there. Come out where I can see you." My senses flared again and I managed to pinpoint where he was, but suddenly they changed, he was behind me.
I span around, to find nothing. He kept moving, except he wasn't moving, he would disappear than reappear somewhere else.
"Quit stalling. Or are you too chicken to come out and face me?" Then the senses stopped. Nothing. Where was he?
A low chuckle came from behind me and I spun around, swinging the branch with all my strength.
Before the branch made contact the angles arm flew up to block the branch with no sign of any effort. I recognised the angel instantly, it was the one from the parking lot, the one that had beaten up Luca. Again I was stunned by the beauty of the angel. He wasn't as good looking as Gabriel, but he was definitely up there.
He tilted his head to the side, studying my face. He was so close, how had he snuck up on me like that? I tried to back away, but he didn't let go of the branch and there was no way I was giving him my only weapon.
"What do you want?" I spat the words at him. "How did you sneak up on me like that?" I didn't mean to say the last part, but it came out anyway.
"Don't you recognise me little sin?"
"Of course I recognise you. You were the angel that Luca knocked out in the car park."
"He didn't knock me out. I knew that he would call you. If I had wanted to kill him all it would have taken was a flick of my wrist."
I tried to sound as confident as possible, but the truth was I was terrified.
"I'm not afraid of you." He leaned in closer so out faces were only centimetres apart. I couldn't look weak, I couldn't back down. I had to stand my ground.
"You should be. You should be VERY afraid of me." His brown eyes flashed and I couldn't breath.
I actually COULDN'T breath.
I fell to the ground and clawed at my throat. It felt like someone was strangling me. Panic set in and I looked up at the angel, his eyes still burned.
He was doing this to me.
I felt a wave of dizziness. He was going to kill me and there was no way for me to fight back. Maybe if I have of expected it I would have been able to do something, but all I could think of was how my lungs burned of oxygen.
"You may be strong little sin, but you're not strong enough to defeat me." His words didn't make much sense to me. I couldn't concentrate on anything except the pain. He crouched down next to me. "Are you afraid? Oh, don't worry, I won't kill you, not yet anyway. I only want to talk."
His eyes went back to normal and I could breath again.
