We were walking through a dark gloomy tunnel with weird rocks and plant life. In we, I mean, Wendy, Natsu, Gajeel, Charle, Happy, Gray, Lucy, and myself.
"So uh, what did you find down here?" The sky dragon wizard spoke up quietly.
"Pipe down and keep up."
"Rude." I mumbled.
"Why'd you only bring us?" Natsu spoke as he continued down the dark tunnel.
Happy was the next one to speak up. "I wonder if he found out something that has to do with dragon slayer magic."
"Please devil slayer is way cooler." Again, I put my two sense in, kind of hoping someone would hear yet kind of not.
"So then, why did the gawkers tag along." Charle, never afraid to be rude.
"Who you calling a gawker, you flying flea bitten feral cat!" The comments had finally gotten to me. Happy had hid behind Lucy and Pantherlily stood behind Charle, the white cat not even phased.
"Yes, gawkers." She had reiterated.
"You know what, be the better person!" I spoke to myself, giving myself a quick slap to the face.
"That's my girl!" Gray spoke up looping an arm around my neck bringing me down to a headlock. It was then I took notice his shirt was white open and that "V" by his abs definitely wiped my mind clean of anything else. Damn, that's hot.
"Wha..What are they?" Wendy spoke up fear lacing her voice.
The fear had pulled me out of ogling Gray's body as I looked up. My eyes zoned in on the tinted, smooth stones. No, they weren't stones. "They're dragon bones. And by the looks of it, a dragon graveyard. Whether it have been from the war, or they came here to die." I removed myself from Gray and began to walk forward. "Devils don't have anything like this. There is no proof that a devil had existed unless you are claimed by the mark." The bones were bringing back memories. I'm glad Constance didn't come for this. She wouldn't be able to take it.
Natsu and Lucy began walking side by side. "Something bad must have happened here." Lucy spoke, fear too lacing her voice.
"These bones are really old too." I let me fingers graced over one.
"Yeah, our dragons disappeared 14 years ago. They ain't here." Gajeel affirmed.
Gray stood by my side, his hands in his pockets.
"That might work!" Wendy spoke up suddenly. "The Milky Way spell. It's one of the new dragon slayer secret arts that Grandeeney had passed down to me. Hear the voices of the dragon spirits that lead to the river of heaven. When I was first learning it, I had assumed that it was some kind of attack. But I just had a thought. What if it's something else entirely. It's possible that the spell could allow us to hear the voices of dragons who have passed on." My eyes widened. Her too? "If we can somehow commune with the spirits of these dragons, then one of them might be able to tell us what had happened here. And we might finally be able to find out why our dragons vanished." Wendy began to draw out the pattern.
I started to get anxious. "You alright?" Gray asked concerned.
"Yeah, the dragons, they are powerful and able to bring back a spirit temporarily to commune with it. Devils are meant to destroy these spirits and damn them. I hope I can reel in my devil and not banish it's spirit before we can talk to it."
"What you can really do that?"
"Not me, the devil within can."
Before Gray could question me further, Wendy spoke up. "Just as I thought. I got these characters wrong before, because I assumed they were used as an attack spell. Here we go. I need everyone to step away from the circle."
Both Gray and I took a step back. Wendy casted the spell Milky Way and a bright green pillar lit up the dark tunnel.
"It's working!" Natsu's face held a smirk.
The walls began to tremor. Lucy held on to Gray. My face flamed with jealousy. "What's happening!?" She called.
"She's searching for a dragon spirit. These bones old, way older than we thought. It'll be hard to find one, but there is one definitely here."
"How can you tell?" Lucy spoke up.
"Because my devil used to reap the lingering souls."
"Found one!" Wendy yelled.
A large transparent dragon came out of the light funnel known as the spell milky way and roared. The three cats, Natsu, Lucy, Gajeel, and Gray screamed. I was embarrassed to be around them. I mean seriously, it's a spirit. The large dragon knew this and laughed.
"Even in death scaring the pants off humans is hilarious. My name is Zirconus, they called me the Jade dragon back in my day. I'm impressed you were able to conjure my spirit. Seems like the handy work of the sky dragon, Grandeeney. Which one of you was it? Aw, how adorable, so it was this tiny dragon slayer who woke me ay?"
"Back off you creep, don't even think of touching her!" Natsu yelled at the giant spirit.
"Natsu, he can't do anything, he's a spirit." I had tried talking sense into the fire dragon slayer but he just ignored me. It wasn't until Zirconus had made fun of Natsu did it finally get through flame brain's skull. "I tried to warn ya."
"We had summoned you to find out what had happened to this place." Gajeel told the dragon.
"I do not talk to humans."
"What about me, I'm a cat." Happy raised his blue paw up.
"It must have been over 400 years ago. Dragon kind once ruled over every corner of the globe. We soared through the skies, raced over the land, swam the great oceans, everything in the world belonged to dragon kind, including humans. Your race was plentiful and an excellent source of protein. But, there was one dragon who felt our reign was unjust. What fool. It zealously spread the idea of a world of where we coexisted with you humans. With any fanatic idea, there was some who agreed, and some who had opposed it outright. It wasn't long before a war had broken out. The fighting was so brutal that in time, entire continents were buried and scarred. Until finally, the dragon supporting coexistence came up with a plan that had doomed us all."
That's when it hit me. "They taught humans how to slay dragons." I spoke up. I could feel a growl from the devil wanting to escape but was luckily able to restrain the beast. Hopefully, I can last.
"Oh, why yes they did. But why should I talk to you, you lowly human?"
"Because I'm not human, dragon." I let the sleeve of my shirt slip slightly.
Zirconus's eyes looked down at the shadow. His eyes widened. "Uhm, yes, yes, you are correct, I'll continue." The spirit stuttered before hurriedly continuing. "The dragon slayers had become so powerful with the magic they were granted, that they eventually turned on the very same dragons that had given them their power. It was a massacre and there was one man that was so terrible he bathed the countryside in the blood of my kin. This man had slayed countless dragons and soaked in their blood. He used his powers so often that his skin turned to scales, his teeth sharpened into fangs, and he stopped being human all together. And that is the fate of all who practice dragon slayer magic." Zirconus looked at me. "But not nearly as terrible of a fate that befalls those who practice devil slayer magic." The spirit dragon began to laugh. "But even though his origins were of human life, he became king of the dragons. And his war, became to be known as the Dragon King Festival and his name was Acnologia."
"Acnologia? That's the dragon we fought on Tenrou Island. Fairy Tail's strongest members threw everything it had at it but that monster just kept coming. We couldn't even phase it!" Lucy recounted her moments back on Tenrou Island.
So Acnologia is the one that had made the first master conceal them in Fairy Sphere. He is the one that had caused my friends so much pain and nearly killed them all.
Strength and adrenaline began to flood my veins but luckily Gray noticed my strain and placed a gentle hand on my shoulder. Pulling me from the rage.
Zirconus continued forward, "Most of my race rots in the ground thanks to Acnologia. All of this happened in the distant past." The spirit then slowly disappeared and my devil eased up on its possession.
Natsu shot forward, "What happened?" As we all watched the specs of the light the spirit left behind dissipated.
"I'm sorry." Wendy relaxed. "Any energy he had left is completely gone now. But where ever he is, I hope he is getting some long needed peace."
Gray had gone into serious mode, "Looks like we got ourselves into another situation."
"There's only one thing I want to know." Natsu turned around and started freaking out, "Does this mean that we're going to turn into dragons too?!" Gajeel started squabbling with the pink haired mage.
I walked forward and began to sniff the three dragon slayers. Everyone quieting down at my actions. They smelt human enough, dragon essence here and there due to their magic, but there was something else I picked up. Something I wasn't sure of, something, not human. "You'll be fine. I don't smell you turning into a dragon!" I slammed my hand against Natsu's back and watched him launch forward and into the ground. "I mean, we could slap some shiny stones on you and give you a tail and wings if you'd like."
"Is now really the time for this?" Lucy placed her hands on her hips, attempting to be motherly and scold us all.
