Every day, I continued to train and read from the books. Day and night have come and gone, locking myself into an isolated meditation. Only good thing my parents ever taught me was meditation. I don’t know how long it’s been or the last time I slept, or ate, actually I can’t remember much since I started the brutal training with myself. Never again, never again will this happen. I’m sorry Levy.
In the middle of my meditation, there was banging on the door. My eye began to twitch as the noise was slowly bringing me out of my meditation. I took a deep breath, and sunk back into the icy darkness. The banging ensued until it abruptly stopped. Finally some piece and… I was cut off from my thoughts as my eyes jolted wide open. The door to my home, which was once frozen shut, blasted from its hinges and slammed into the wall, almost hitting me in the process. Turning around, there was Gray and Natsu standing with happy looks on their faces that they were able to destroy my door. Behind them, were some members of the guild.
Levy charged into my home and brought me into a hug. “Nora!” She cried into my shoulder. I was shocked. I thought she would hate me for freezing her arm. Wait, her arm! I quickly pushed her away and grabbed ahold of the arm that I had once frozen. It was fine. No discoloration, nothing, it was like nothing happened. “I’m fine. When you ran out of the guild, it shattered.” I’m not sure if I should be happy or upset about that. I’m happy that she’s okay, but I’m upset that my magic is weak. Gray, Erza, Lucy, and Natsu walked in, followed by Master Makarov. Once I saw him, I bowed my head.
“Nora.” I slowly raised my head to meet his gaze as he was only a foot away. “I understand you’re frightened by the speed of which your magic is growing. The strength that you are gaining. But know this, you are our family and we will do everything we can to help you. Please child, do not be scared to show us your weakness. Knowing that, makes you stronger.” I quickly sniffled and hugged the old man. I’m so stupid, I was running away from my family. Never again. “Gray, I am making you her temporary guardian.” All jaws dropped.
“But Master…” Erza began to interject on behalf of Gray.
“I understand we have the S-Class Promotion Trials coming up. I would like Gray to keep an eye on her as their magic is similar, and should anything go wrong, he will be able to help her.”
I smiled at them all, “Thank you!”
“Hey, Nora, when was the last time you ate?” Levy said with a worried expression as everyone was able to take a look at me.
“Uhm, I don’t remember?”
“C’mon let’s go get some food before the promotion.” Natus cheered. Erza and Master went back to the guild as they had some final preparations to do before they announce who will be participating in the trial.
As we began to walk outside I froze, “Who’s going to fix my door!?” I screeched.
Everyone’s voice lowered and they all looked at Natsu, “Natsu.”
“Hey, what did I do?”
“You know what you did!”
The ice and fire wizards began to argue over my broken door, Lucy and Levy were trying to calm them down. I took in a breath and slowly exhaled. “While those two are arguing, I’m going to take a bath.” I walked back into my frozen, broken home and quickly made way to the bathroom. This was untouched by the ice and I quickly stripped letting the warm water cascade down my body. I had to be quick, so I could get some food. Man, was I hungry. I quickly finished and placed on a long sleeve, black, sweater dress that went mid-thigh and knee-high tan boots. By the time I got outside, they were still arguing, Lucy, Levy, and Happy were sitting on the sidewalk.
“Let’s go I’m hungry!” I yelled. Still, the boys didn’t stop bickering. “Hey, Gray, what will happen if Master finds out you haven’t been watching me?” Gray instantly stops bickering.
“Fine you’re right, let’s go get some food.” Gray and myself walked ahead of the other’s, a comforting silence lingered in the air for a few moments before it was shattered. “I heard what happened.”
“Can we not?” I asked hoping he wouldn’t say anything about the mishap that had happened days before. The other’s conversation behind us had quieted down so that could conveniently overhear.
“I need to know what happened so it doesn’t happen again.” Gray was trying to work with me. Right, in Fairy Tail we are all family.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see his gaze would look back at me every once in awhile. Why do I like it when he pays attention to me? I took a deep breath and just as I was about to explain, a ramen shop store owner interrupted me and gestured for us to enter. Natsu ran in followed by the rest until it was only Gray and I. I brought my eyes to look at him. He was a lot taller than I, but then again there was an eight year difference between us. “I fell asleep at the guild and as I was falling asleep Mira and Master were talking about how my power is so strong that I need to be constantly watched. But, I fell asleep before I heard anything else. In my dream, I…” I tried recollecting myself before continuing. “I just felt so alone and scared and cold. That’s when I froze Levy.”
“Nora…”
“It’s fine, I’ll just have to try harder, right? Now let’s get some food!” I yelled and quickly closed my eyes and put on a smile. I was trying to hold back the tears that threatened to spill due to the bad memory, but I would never admit that. Heck, I’m a kid that still has some issues holding their emotions. I ran into the ramen shop and saw that Natsu had eaten about three bowls already. “Hey, don’t eat all the food!” I sat on the bench and saw that there was a bowl waiting for me and a second bowl on the chair next to me. Guess there’s no escaping Gray’s presence.
I was silent as I continued to eat the delicious food, and Gray eventually came in and began to devour his food. Man, not eating in a few days really drains you. I had ordered two more bowls of ramen till I finally felt content enough to say I was full.
“Hey, Nora!” I perked at my name and saw that it was Lucy calling me. “Why don’t I get you some celestial clothes?”
“You’d do that?” Her celestial magic fascinated me. I mean were summons were like people except, animal like with really cool powers.
“Yeah, c’mon let’s go. You too Natsu!” Lucy grabbed Natsu’s ear with one hand and my hand with her other. Gray and Levy stayed behind. I guess to pay, but it looked like Levy had something on her mind and it was troubling her. If only I had telepathy or something than I could figure out what they were talking about.
“Hey! That hurts you know!” Natsu yelled and wiggled his way out of Lucy’s grip.
“You were thinking of summoning me, Princess?” Virgo had opened the gate with her own magic, and her sudden appearance frightened Lucy to where she almost fell into the river. It was amusing to say the least.
“Virgo, can you give Nora some celestial clothes?”
“Whatever you wish, Princess.”
My body began to glow and once the glow was gone my clothing had changed. I was now wearing a floor length light blue jacket that connected at the neck, white leggings, black ankle high boots, and a white tube top, even though I had nothing to show. It was amazing. “Wow! Thank you!” I ran up to Lucy and gave her a hug.
“You look pretty!” Happy yelled and sat on my head. I giggled at the blue cat.
“Hey Wendy I want some clothes!”
“No!” Lucy yelled at Natsu for being rude about asking. I laughed at the two bickering, they were like an old married couple. Levy and Gray walked out of the restaurant. “Oh hey, thanks for covering the bill.”
“Yes, thank you!” I nodded at them with my heads behind my back.
“We should get back to the guild so they can announce the entrants for the S-Class promotion.” Levy stated looking up at the sky. I walked up to my cousin and grabbed her hand.
“Thank you.” I whispered to her as we made out way to the guild hall.
