"Harry, no!" James shouted, as he and the tall Hufflepuff - who they came to know as Cedric - grabbed the portkey-cup and appeared in a... Graveyard?!"No..Harry..." Lily whispered in fear. "HARRY!"
A jet of green light flew out of seemingly nowhere, and missing Harry by inches, hit Cedric in the chest. He crumpled onto the ground while Harry stared, horror and shock mingling on his face.
"James...the boy. He'll be coming." Lily said, bringing James out of his horror-stricken daydream.
"Oh.. Yes." They turned towards the door as he burst through. He looked confused more than anything, but when he spotted them an emotion that James couldn't quite make out passed his face.
There were a few moments of tense silence, punctuated by the voices coming from Earth.
"H-Harry?" He asked finally.
Lily made an incoherent sound. James' heart dropped in his chest on hearing that. It felt there was a huge block pressing down on him, weighing him down until he sunk into the very ground. He managed a smile.
"Oh no, son. Come here. We are his parents."

"So.. That's what's going down there. On Earth." Cedric repeated.
"Yes. Look,- wait lily, what spell is that?"
Lily tore her gaze away from Cedric and focused her eyes downward. She frowned.
"I don't know. A golden light- hey, why is he dissolving?"
Cedric was dissolving into the background, looking even more confused. "I- I think I'm going to appear back at earth. Just a thought. L- look. "
A Body in the shape of Cedric was indeed forming next to where he who must not be named wand appeared to cast its spell. James and lily looked at each other, and uttered the same thing at the same time.
"Priori Incantatem"
"Listen. Tell Harry whatever you want to be known there, because you're never gonna get another opportunity. I've only heard of this happening once before when..." Lily broke off as he disappeared completely and felt herself dissolving. She looked at James, who wore a soft, anticipating smile.
I'm going to meet my son. That's all lily should think as she felt himself dissolving and solidifying in front of the raging scene. She looked at Harry and swallowed.
"Your father will be coming." She said softly. That was all she could manage at the overwhelming moment. "Hold on..."
As if on cue, James began to solidify in front of them. He smiled, walking towards Harry with a proud expression on his face.
"When the connection breaks, we can only linger for a few moments. You have to run okay?" He told Harry, who nodded, though he looked as if he was going to break.
"Harry... Take my body back to my parents.." Cedric said, momentarily surprising them; they had forgotten he was there too.
"You have to do it. Now." James said.
"NOW!" Harry yelled, broke the connection and ran. Instinctively, James and lily closed in Voldemort, trying to shield Harry at the same trying to see him.
"Accio cup!!" Harry yelled, holding Cedric's body. The cup came flying into his hand, and he disappeared.
"I'm so proud of Harry.." James said with a wistful expression as they came back on heaven. Lily nodded, unable to form words.
"Me too"
